  1.           EDITINT Simple Profile Editor for OS/2 2.0

  3. The EDITINI program is a simple editor which can be used to view
  4. and change text entries in the OS2.INI and OS2SYS.INI keyed
  5. files.  The OS2.INI and OS2SYS.INI files provide a convenient
  6. place for programs to store profile information.  However, these
  7. files are stored in binary form and therefore cannot be readily
  8. viewed without a special program.  That's why EDITINI was
  9. created.

  11. EDITINI can be used to view text entries in the OS2.INI and
  12. OS2SYS.INI profiles, and it also provides the ability to change
  13. or delete entries if desired.  (EDITINI does not provide binary
  14. data editing capability.)

  16. To view profile entries, select OS2.INI or OS2SYS.INI from the
  17. choices EDITINI provides in the "Profile" group box.  EDITINI
  18. will automatically look for all Application names and Keynames
  19. for the first Application name it finds when you select either
  20. "OS2.INI" or "OS2SYS.INI".

  22. Type in "Application name" and "Key name" (or select from
  23. available choices) to see the data for an application/key name
  24. pair. The "Text" field will show data for your selections
  25. whenever it can be found.

  27. To add a new profile entry, select the "Application name" or type
  28. in a new name.  Select a "Key name" or type in a new name.  Then
  29. type in "Text" data for this application/key pair, and press
  30. "Add/Change" to add the new entry.

  32. To change the currently displayed entry, type over the "Text"
  33. data for the entry and press "Add/Change".

  35. To delete the currently displayed entry, press "Delete".

  37. Warning:  Only change or delete entries if you are sure you
  38. understand the consequences.  User program and system data in
  39. OS/2 keyed profiles may be damaged if you accidentally corrupt
  40. this data.  (Corrupting OS/2 data could damage your Workplace
  41. Shell customization, for example.)
