George W. Goethals, chief engineer during the U.S. construction of the Panama Canal. The basins on each side represent the Panama Canal locks with their cascades emulating the waters of Gatun Lake flowing Into and joining the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. El monumento a Goethals, inaugurado el 31 de marzo de 1954, rinde tributo al General George W. Goethals, ingeniero jefe durante el periodo de la construcción del Canal de Panamá por los Estados Unidos. Las piletas a cada lado representan las esclusas del Canal, y sus cascadas emulan las aguas del lago Gatún fluyendo y uniendose a los océanos Atlántico y Pacifico.
