  5. Work with two views on Draw. The first view
  6. allows you to have an overview of more than
  7. just your A4 paper. It is handy for shuffling
  8. Drawfiles around to get them roughly in
  9. position. If the second view is made visible
  10. behind the first you can drag Drawfiles across
  11. across the view edge from one to the other -->
  12.  
  13. VIEW 1 - Zoom 1:2, A2, Portrait, Show paper
  14. limits, no Grid visible, no auto-adjust, lock
  15. to hidden grid of cm with 10 divisions switched
  16. on. Use this window for moving objects across
  17. the full width & height of the paper. Click on
  18. the 'straight line' icon at the top of the
  19. Toolbox and draw a very short diagonal line in
  20. the grey area off the bottom left-hand corner
  21. of the paper. Remember the true paper limits
  22. do not appear until your printer driver has
  23. been loaded. This little line allows objects 
  24. to be dragged on to this paper size without
  25. Draw reverting to the minimum paper size on
  26.                  which they can be displayed.
  27. VIEW 2 - Zoom 3:2, A2, Portrait, Show paper
  28. limits, Grid on, no auto-adjust, lock to grid
  29. on cm with 10 divisions. Note that with Zoom
  30. 3:2 all equipment on an Acorn RGB Colour
  31. Monitor will appear life-size.  Put a standard
  32. size test tube up to the screen and see!
  33. Adjust the size of the draw views to leave a
  34. vertical strip about 3 cm wide down the right
  35. hand side of the screen. The 1:2 zoom view
  36. will not take up much space. Call up any
  37. directory by double clicking on its icon.
  38. Adjust the shape of the new window to fill the
  39. vertical strip. The filenames of apparatus
  40. shapes should be clicked on by the SELECT
  41. button on the mouse and keeping the key
  42. pressed, drag the icon down to the left-hand 
  43. bottom corner of the 1:2 zoom window VIEW 1.
  44. The shape will appear on the A2 paper.  Click
  45. on the TOOLBOX 'Select' (arrow) and press the
  46. mouse SELECT button to drag it into the A4 area
  47. on the A2 page. Repeat this process until you
  48. have all the apparatus you need. All apparatus
  49. edges should match in to  the 1 mm grid. If it
  50. is apparent that they do not then you have
  51. forgotten to switch the grid on. Flip to VIEW 2
  52. for detailed manipulation and editing.
  53. Hints and tips
  54. --------------
  55. CAINE JUMP - Not a lot of people know this ...
  56. but you can drag an object in Draw across the
  57. edge of one window view on to another. This is
  58. extremely useful as you don't have to position
  59. objects accurately on VIEW 1 initially. It can
  60. all end in tears though if you forget to set 
  61. the Grid lock on both of the views involved!
  62. SMART COPY  -------------------------------->
  63. SMART COPY - Even less people know of this!
  64. Start up a 2nd Draw window (not New View). Drag
  65. a multi-object e.g. ($.Chemistry.Basic.Tubing)
  66. Draw file into this window. Select one of the
  67. pieces of tubing. Make sure nothing is selected
  68. on your original Draw window behind. Press the
  69. MENU button on the mouse, move through Select
  70. and you will see the Copy option highlighted.
  71. Select this and, as if by magic, the piece of
  72. tubing from the 2nd window appears on the 1st.
