  2. The Sherston Naughty Story Demo - Edwina's Energetic Elephant

  5. Loading the software

  8. Place the Demo disc in the drive and click the select button
  9. on the floppy disc icon (:0). First, double click on the !Fonts
  10. directory which is supplied on the disc. This will load the
  11. fonts required for The Naughty Story into memory. Now, open
  12. the window which contains the application !Edwina. Move the
  13. pointer over this application and double click the select button.

  15. After a short delay the Elephant icon will appear on the icon
  16. bar. This demo is a cut down version of the Edwina story.

  19. Using the software
  20. ------------------

  22. The Naughty Stories have been designed to be very simple to use.
  23. Most activities are performed by a single click of the select
  24. button.

  26. The simplest way to start the demo is to click the select
  27. (left) button on the Elephant icon on the icon bar.
  28.  
  29. The main window contains a few icons; left and right facing
  30. arrows  (forward and backward through the book), an ear to
  31. listen to the story being read out and an eye to animate the
  32. picture. Clicking on any of the words in the story cause them
  33. to be read out. This demo can also be used in single task mode.
  34. This means that the software will run outside of the RISC OS
  35. Wimp environment so that children are not empted to play with
  36. the desktop. Press the Escape key to skip back to desktop mode.

  38. An options menu allows you to set whether single words or whole
  39. sentences (or both) are spoken. You can also set the volume and
  40. record a log file of the words.
