- CONVERT CDDA FILES TO AIFF AND BACKWARD 1.0
- =============================================
-
- -What?
- It is just a simple program to convert CDDA files generated by
- MakeCD to AIFF ones, able to be read directly for any software with no
- problems... And viceversa, you can convert AIFF files to CDDA files
-
- -How?
- Very fast
-
- -Mmm???
- Oh, using it... just simple... type 'c2a filename' to convert a
- file. It automatically pass from CDDA to AIFF or viceversa... It is so
- intelligent...
-
- -Sure?
- Not much, seriously... Well... let me explain...
- First we will convert a CDDA file to AIFF...
- The program assumes that every file that does not begin with FORM
- (inside the file, not in the name!) is a CDDA one. So, just use only files
- generated with MakeCD (others not tested). It then will overwrite an AIFF
- header, making it readable by most of sample programs (even by MakeCD!).
- So, as you imagine (or not?) the first 24 bytes are missing... not much
- loose, isn't it?
-
- Now, retouch the sample (big, isn't it?) with your favourite
- program (SoundProbe is a good one, as can manage the sample in his original
- file, not wasting more memory/hard disk space...).
-
- If you need an AIFF to CDDA conversion, just run the program... It
- will fill the header with $00 (it tries to erase the minimun size!), so it
- will have not format anymore. If the file length is not divisible with
- 2352, it will not be recognized by MakeCD as a CDDA file; this is why I
- recomended 'SoundProbe', because the file length will be the same (it too
- overwrite the header with his own chunks...)
-
- -Why?
- Why I created this thing? I do not known... well, yes...
- CDDA to AIFF: I was tired of searching and fighting with many
- programs to read the CDDA format. In fact, the CDDA has no format!
- AIFF to CDDA: after getting my program work, I realized that the
- sample retouched with 'SoundProbe' and many others are not correctly
- recognized by MakeCD. No, not a MakeCD fault!. The sample programs does
- not record correctly the AIFF headers and chunks...!!!! So, I need to
- convert back to CDDA (or remake the headers to AIFF) to be recognized by
- MakeCD.
- Remember, if you retouch the file length of the file, it will be no
- longer a CDDA file, even if you run my program... and if your sample
- programs does not write correct AIFF headers, it also will be not readable
- by MakeCD...
-
- -Help!!!
- Do not worry... my program is the solution, again...
- You get a CDDA file and convert it to AIFF. Then, you resize the
- file and convert to CDDA. As the size is not divisible by 2352, it is no
- longer a CDDA... run again my program and it will write a new AIFF header,
- good enough for MakeCD, a strict program... There you go...
-
- -More...
- In fact, my program is so good that it will convert ANY file to
- AIFF or CDDA. If you do not like this, just do not run it on any other
- files... any IFF file (thus with first 4 bytes 'FORM') will have cleared
- his header. Any thing else will have an AIFF header created... i think
- this way a MAUD file could be converted too to AIFF/CDDA... :-)
-
- -How many?
-
- Not much... just an email saying: your program is great!
-
- -Who?
- Me.
-
- -Ejem...
- Ok... My name is Dimas, and I am spanish, so, excuse my english!

-
- -Anything else?
- Well, if you want to send me money or any thing else... I will not
- say 'No'...
-
- -More progs?
-
- I have made a program to create mixed CDs. Just read the desired
- tracks and my program mix them a given number of secods. It can generate
- separate tracks (for you with DAO support) or a big track, for people like
- me without DAO support... Email me if you are interested in thi one...

- -History
- *19-March-1998 ... 1.0
- First pulic version. All seems to work (at least, on my system...)
- It has been tested on a A4000 MkII-060, MakeCD 3.1 and a DYSAN
- CRW-1622 IDE cd-rom rewriter
