  24.  The ScanTek scanner driver has the following features:
  25.  
  26.  1. Support of the following SCSI Microtek scanner models:
  27.         MICROTEK IISP, MICROTEK II, HIGHSCREEN Flatbed Color IIs,
  28.         ScanMaker E3, ScanMaker 35t, ScanMaker E6,
  29.         Highscreen PerfectScan, Highscreen HighScan
  30.  
  31.     Support of the following SCSI Mustek Paragon scanner models:
  32.         Three Pass Scanners:
  33.         Paragon 6000CX, 8000CX (not tested), 12000CX all should work
  34.  
  35.         One or Single Pass Scanners:
  36.         Paragon 6000SP, 8000SP, 12000SP (now supported) all should work
  37.         Paragon 6000CZ, 8000CZ (not tested)
  38.  
  39.         Paragon 600IISP, 800IISP
  40.  
  41.  
  42.     The following scanner models are in the development phase:
  43.         Microtek E3PLUS
  44.            This new scanner model can be used in black&white, grey scale
  45.            and color scanning.
  46.            The download of color lookup tables (gamma curves) does not
  47.            work at the moment.
  48.  
  49.         Microtek V300 
  50.         Microtek 330, 630
  51.            These scanner models are due to the documentation related to           
  52.            the Microtek E3PLUS. They should work in an equivalent way.
  53.  
  54.  
  55.     The following scanner models are recognized but not fully supported: 
  56.         Mustek ScanExpress 12000SP
  57.         Mustek Paragon 1200IIISP (caution: III -> version 3)
  58.            Color scanning is only sucessfull at resolutions of 150, 300,
  59.            600 and 1200 dpi.
  60.            Grey scale scanning is possible.
  61.            If the image to be scanned exceeds the scan buffer size than
  62.            the image is corrupt. This effect is independent from the
  63.            scan mode.
  64.            The scanning quality is also (!) dependent from the used
  65.            SCSI host adapter.
  66.            The ScanExpress or Paragon 12000IIISP scanner models are
  67.            not recommended for ScanTek.
  68.            At least until sometimes in the future the corresponding
  69.            Mustek SCSI programming documentation for these new models
  70.            is available. I think this might be a Millenium projekt.
  71.  
  72.  
  73.     The following scanner models are not supported by now: 
  74.         All remaining Mustek ScanExpress and Paragon IIISP models.
  75.  
  76.  
  77.     The following scanner models are not supported:
  78.         Canon, Epson, HP, Umax and any parallelport scanner.
  79.  
  80.  
  81.     Attention: In recent times Mustek has changed the scanner firmware.
  82.                I urge you to test Mustek scanners with your Amiga
  83.                configuration before buying it.
  84.  
  85.                Mustek scanners have a critical SCSI interface. It
  86.                was reported to me that these scanners may not work
  87.                with the A2091 and A3000(T) internal SCSI interface.
  88.                It is possible that these scanners do not work with
  89.                other SCSI host adapters, either.
  90.                But the Mustek 6000CX and Paragon MFS-12000SP work in
  91.                combination with an Oktagon SCSI host adapter.
  92.                Be sure to disable reselection for Mustek scanners
  93.                on your SCSI host adapter. Otherwise your system may
  94.                not boot.
  95.  
  96.  2. Support of black/white, built-in halftone (dither), one-pass-color-scan,
  97.     three pass color scan, grey, red, green and blue scan.
  98.  
  99.  3. Individual setting of resolution, scanning frame, contrast, shadow,
  100.     midtone, highlight, exposure time and scanning speed for download to the
  101.     scanner.
  102.  
  103.  4. Download of a color look up table (gamma correction table ) to the scanner
  104.     supported.
  105.  
  106.  5. Scanning to IFF File of 1, 8 or 24 bit color depth. The maximum size of
  107.     the scanned image is independent from the RAM size. After the scanning
  108.     process it is possible to start an external program.
  109.  
  110.  6. GUI for preview and configuration of the driver. You need Kickstart 2.04
  111.     but Kickstart 3.0 is recommended.
  112.  
  113.  7. Sizeable preview window in black/white or grey scale. Color preview
  114.     on Cybergraphix screens (15, 16 or 24 bit necessary).
  115.     There are much more skilled programs to view and manipulate the scanned
  116.     images in color. (A tool like ADPRO, IMAGE FX or so is needed, if you
  117.     want to do sophisticated postproduction)
  118.  
  119.  8. ARexx support
  120.  
  121.  9. Screenmode requester to define custom screen for working. The actual public
  122.     screen is supported as well
  123.  
  124.  10. Configurable SCSI device and SCSI ID. The driver supports only SCSI
  125.      connectable scanners.
  126.  
  127.  11. The driver is tested with the following SCSI drivers: oktagon.device and
  128.      gvpscsi.device V4.5.
  129.  
  130.  12. ScanTek is written using SAS C 6.55.
  131.  
  132.  13. ScanTek is SHAREWARE.
  133.  
  134.  14. The non registered version of ScanTek is a full working version, but all
  135.      scanned images have black lines to motivate you to register.
  136.      Additionally the maximum size of the preview is restricted.

  139.  Übersicht

  142.  ScanTek bietet die folgenden Merkmale:

  144.  1. Unterstützung der folgenden SCSI Microtek Scanner Modelle:

  149.     Unterstützung der folgenden SCSI Mustek Paragon Scanner Modelle:

  151.         Paragon 6000CX, 8000CX (ungeprüft), 12000CX alle sollten funktionieren

  159.     Die folgenden neuen Modelle befinden sich in der Testphase:
  160.         Microtek E3PLUS
  161.            Diese Scanner wird mit Schwarz/Weiß, Graustufen und Farbscannen
  162.            unterstützt.
  163.            Einzig die Farbkorrekturtabellen (Color LookUp Table) sind
  164.            derzeit noch nicht funktionstüchtig.

  166.         Microtek v300, 330, 630
  167.            Diese Scannermodelle sind dem E3PLUS sehr ähnlich und sollten
  168.            auch unterstützt sein.
  169.  
  170.     Die folgenden (neuen) Modelle sind nur unzureichend unterstützt:
  171.         Mustek ScanExpress 12000SP
  172.         Mustek Paragon 1200IIISP (Vorsicht: III -> version 3)
  173.            Farbscannen ist nun möglich, aber nur bei den Auflösungen
  174.            150, 300, 600 und 1200 dpi erfolgreich.
  175.            Graustufen sind möglich.
  176.            Übersteigt die Größe des zu scannenden Bildes die Größe des
  177.            Scan Buffers, dann ist das Bild fehlerbehaftet und unbrauchbar.
  178.            Dieser Effekt tritt unabhängig vom eingestellten Scan Modus auf.
  179.            Die Scanqualität ist auch (!) abhängig vom verwendeten SCSI
  180.            Host Adapter.
  181.  
  182.            Die ScanExpress Scannermodelle sind nicht empfehlenswert für die
  183.            Benutzung mit ScanTek.
  184.            Dies kann sich ändern, wenn die Mustek SCSI Programmierunterlagen
  185.            irgentwann in ferner Zukunft verfügbar sind. Ob das noch
  186.            innerhalb diese Jahrhunderts geschieht ist abzuwarten.
  187.  
  188.  
  189.     Die folgenden (neuen) Modelle sind bisher nicht unterstützt:
  190.         Alle anderen Modelle der Mustek ScanExpress Serie
  191.  
  192.     Diese Scanner werden nicht unterstützt:
  193.         Canon, Epson, HP, UMAX und Parallelportscanner
  194.  
  195.     Sollten auch nicht aufgeführte Scanner mit ScanTek zusammen-
  196.     arbeiten, dann wäre eine Mitteilung darüber sehr nett. 
  197.  
  198.     Achtung:   Ich rate jedem einen Test des ins Auge gefassten Scanners an
  199.                seiner Amiga Konfiguration durchzuführen und eventuell ein
  200.                Umtauschrecht mit dem Händler zu vereinbaren.
  201.                Scanner sind bei weitem nicht so standardisiert, wie z.B.
  202.                Festplatten. Das führt bei verschiedenen Kombinationen zwischen
  203.                SCSI Host Adaptern und bestimmten Scannermodellen zu einer
  204.                hardwaremässigen Unverträglichkeit.
  205.  
  206.                Ein Warnung bezüglich Mustek Scannern.
  207.                Mustek tendiert dazu bei neuen Scannermodellen, die Firmware und
  208.                damit die Schnittstelle zu ScanTek zu ändern. Das kann zur Folge
  209.                haben, daß manche neueren Scannermodelle nicht mehr ScanTek
  210.                zusammenarbeiten. Diese Situation ist gerade wieder aktuell, da
  211.                Mustek die neue ScanExpress Serie auf den Markt gebracht hat.
  212.                An einer Anpassung von ScanTek wird gerade gearbeitet.
  213.  
  214.                Mustek Scanner weisen ein kritisches (incompatibles) Verhalten
  215.                am SCSI Bus auf. Es wurde mir berichtet, daß Mustek Scanner nicht
  216.                mit den folgenden SCSI Host Adaptern zusammenarbeiten.
  217.                Unverträglich sind der A2091 und der A3000(T) interne SCSI Host
  218.                Adapter.
  219.                Es ist darum möglich, daß die Mustek Scanner auch mit anderen
  220.                SCSI Host Adaptern nicht zusammenarbeiten.
  221.                Aus eigener Erfahrung kann ich jedoch sagen, daß ein Mustek
  222.                6000CX und ein Paragon MFS-12000SP mit einem Oktagon SCSI Host
  223.                Adapter zusammenarbeiten.
  224.                Eventuell muß das SCSI Host Adapter Merkmal "Reselection"
  225.                deaktiviert werden. Ansonst kann es geschehen, daß der Computer
  226.                nicht hochläuft.
  227.  
  228.  2. Unterstützung von Schwarz-Weiß, eingebautem Halftone (Dithering), Farb,
  229.     Grau, Rot, Grün und Blau Scanmodus.
  230.     Dabei kann es Scannermodell bedingt zu Abweichungen kommen.
  231.  
  232.  3. Individuelle Einstellbarkeit der Auflösung, des Scanrahmens, des Kontrasts,
  233.     der Dunkel- Mitten und Helltöne. Desweiteren kann die Scangeschwindigkeit
  234.     und die "Belichtung" eingestellt werden. Die aufgeführten Werte werden nicht
  235.     von allen Scannermodellen unterstützt.
  236.  
  237.  4. Farbkorrekturtabellen (Color Look Up Tables) können erstellt und auf den
  238.     Scanner geladen werden.
  239.  
  240.  5. Das gescannte Bild wird in eine IFF Datei mit 1, 8 oder 24 bit Farbtiefe
  241.     gespeichert. Die maximale Größe eines gescannten Bildes ist unabhängig vom
  242.     verfügbaren Hauptspeicher (RAM) des Computers.
  243.     Nach dem Scanprozeß kann ein externes Programm automatisch gestartet werden.
  244.  
  245.  6. Mit der intuitiven GUI (Graphische Benutzer Schnittstelle) Bedienung ist es
  246.     einfach ScanTek zu konfigurieren und zu benutzen.
  247.     Es ist hierfür Kickstart 2.04 oder besser noch Kickstart 3.0 erforderlich.
  248.  
  249.  7. Die Auswahl des gewünschten Scaninhalts erfolgt in einem Vorschaufenster.
  250.     Die Scanvorschau ist normalerweise in Schwarz/Weiß oder in Graustufen
  251.     gehalten.
  252.     Die Farbvorschau ist nur auf einem Cybergraphixscreen mit 15, 16 oder 24 bit
  253.     Farbtiefe möglich.
  254.     Zur Nachbearbeitung (die immer notwendig ist) empfiehlt sich ein Werkzeug
  255.     wie ImageFX, ArtEffect, AdPro oder eins der vielen guten Sharewarebild-
  256.     bearbeitungsprogramme.
  257.  
  258.  8. ARexx Unterstützung
  259.  
  260.  9. Unterstützung eines Bildschirmauswahlfensters zur Auswahl einer beliebigen
  261.     Bildschirmauflösung. Es ist ebenfalls moöglich ScanTek auf dem aktuellen
  262.     PublicScreen zu öffnen.
  263.  
  264.  10. Einstellbares SCSI device und SCSI ID.
  265.      ScanTek unterstützt nur Scannermodelle, die über die SCSI Schnittstelle
  266.      betrieben werden.
  267.  
  268.  11. ScanTek wurde mit Hilfe des SAS C 6.55 entwickelt.

  270.  12. ScanTek ist SHAREWARE.

  272.  13. Die unregistrierte Version von ScanTek ist eine annähernd vollständige
  273.      Version. Sie unterscheidet sich von der registrierten Version nur in den
