  2. Installing slidesets:-

  5. (1)Copy the contents of this disc into the MSCOPE directory on your hard
  6.    drive. (This directory must already contain Microscope for the PC).
  7.  
  8. (2)Log onto the directory from the DOS command line.
  9.  
  10. (3)Enter the following at the Dos Command line:-
  11.  
  12.  
  13.          SLIDES1
  14.  
  15.  
  16. (4)The slidesets will be extracted from the compressed file into the
  17.    directory. Afterwards, you can delete SLIDES1.EXE from your hard-disc
  18.    to save space.
  19.  
  20. (5)To use the slidesets, start Microscope for the PC and INSTALL the sets
  21.    into the control database using the slideset management option from
  22.    Microscope's menu.

  59. Slidesets are sold as packs, normally several slidesets of many images
  60. to a disk. To offer these relatively cheaply outside the United 
  61. Kingdom it is not feasible to ship single disks. Instead all prices have
  62. been simplified for non-UK customers. You can order direct from Molcol
  63. Software at a cost of $9.00 (USA Dollars per disk) but all orders must
  64. be for at least 3 DISKS. No additional shipping or handling charges need
  65. to be added. As you become aware of the growing range of PROfessional
  66. slidesets, simply choose the ones you would like, make sure they total
  67. at least 3 disks and send a cheque for $27.00 (USA dollars)

  69. Any additional slideset disks can be included on the same order for the
  70. reduced price of $8.00 (USA dollars). Here is an example:-

  168.        These slidesets contain slides taken from PROFESSIONAL slideset
  169.        packs normally purchasable for use with MICROSCOPE for the PC
  170.        (PRO) Ver 1.0. They have been distributed as SHAREWARE to enable
  171.        users of the Professional Version of Microscope to gain an insight
  172.        into which slidesets they may wish to purchase. The slidesets in  
  173.        this pack can be viewed with all Licensed Versions of Microscope 
  174.        for the PC, and with the unlicensed SHAREWARE Version distributed
  175.        for initial evaluation of the software.

  178.        Licensing Agreement:-

  180.        This is very simple. Users of UNLICENSED or UNREGISTERED versions 
  181.        of Microscope for the PC may view these slidesets for a limited 
  182.        period - a few weeks. If after such time, they do not wish to 
  183.        register, licence, or purchase a version of Microscope for the PC -
  184.        then they should remove the SHAREWARE slideset pack files from 
  185.        their hard-disk, and erase all files on the distribution disk.
  186.        
  187.        Licensed & Registered users of Microscope for the PC may continue
  188.        using the SLIDESET PACK indefinitely. They are considered Licensed
  189.        users of all slidesets in this pack. They need take no further
  190.        action to register the pack with MOLCOL SOFTWARE. They may wish 
  191.        however, to purchase 1 or more of the PRO slideset packs 
  192.        advertised here but are under no obligation to do so. Details of 
  193.        purchase fees and arrangements are given below.

  197.        SAFETY

  199.        It is wise to copy the floppy disk contents onto another formatted
  200.        floppy disk as soon as possible. This provides you with a 'back-up'
  201.        of the files, should the distribution disk become corrupted for some
  202.        reason. There should be no need to remove the write protection on
  203.        the floppy during the copying or installation process.

  208.        constantly being added to. Example of PRO slidesets are released as
  209.        Shareware slidesets to help you see what is available for direct 
  210.        purchase. Check computer magazine adverts, Shareware distributors,

  212.        covered. If you would like to see specific topics, subjects, objects
  213.        etc., added to the range then please let us know. An order form to

  223.        This SHAREWARE pack contains 2 competitions open to everyone 
  224.        irrespective of which version of Microscope for the PC they have.
  225.        People with PRO versions may have a slight edge in one of the 
  226.        competitions because of the additional features in their software.
  227.        Users of evaluation versions may also enter!
  228.        A single prize will be awarded by MOLCOL SOFTWARE to 1 winner for
  229.        each of the two competitions. The following details describe both
  230.        competitions, the rules, and the prizes to be won. The prizes are
  231.        moderate: the aim of these competitions is to encourage users of 
  232.        Microscope for the PC to become familiar with the controls and to
  233.        promote independent research in young users.

  235.        If a school wishes to submit entries by many students or teachers, 
  236.        it would be helpful if they indicate whether the prize should be
  237.        awarded to the school or to the student. If a school wins the prize
  238.        then a site-licence will be included with the prize to enable use
  239.        on Microscope PRo on 10 computers at the same site.

  245.        The SHAREWARE slideset called SHARNOR1 included in this pack has
  246.        a slide of an insect which is not identified in the associated text.
  247.        This slide displays with a title of 'GUESS See Text' and is the
  248.        6th slide in the SHARNOR1 slideset.

  250.        The aim of the competition is to identify the insect and provide 
  251.        proof to us (MOLCOL). This can take the form of duplicated reference
  252.        material. In addition, your entry must include an idea for an 
  253.        interesting slideset which could be used with Microscope for the PC.
  254.        You should explain what this should be by including a written page
  255.        of less than 200 words.
  256.  
  257.        In the event of more than 1 person correctly identifying the subject
  258.        in the slide, this paper and idea will be judged by Molcol to help
  259.        determine a winner. Should Molcol decide to develop a slideset based
  260.        on the idea then Molcol will hold all rights to the slideset 
  261.        developed: the person submitting the idea will have no connected
  262.        rights to the slideset nor the development based on the idea.

  265.        The competition entries will be judged by Molcol. The winner will 
  266.        receive a prize of 1 Microscope for the PC (PRO) version 1.0 
  267.        package or a cheque for £25.00; the choice between these 2 prizes
  268.        to be determined by the winner. No additional correspondence will be
  269.        entered into by MOLCOl and no submissions will be returned.

  275.        The SHAREWARE slideset called SHARNOR1 included in this pack has
  276.        a slide of an OLEANDER LEAF vascular bundle which has been 
  277.        artificially altered by us to include the alphabetical letters:
  278.        M O L C O L . These are not easily seen as each letter has been
  279.        artfully placed into the normal details of the slide.
  280.  
  281.        The slide displays with a title of 'OLEANDER LEAF - MOLCOL' and
  282.        is the 7th slide in the SHARNOR1 slideset.

  284.        The aim of the competition is to create a TUTORIAL FILE on disc 
  285.        which contains indicators pointing at each letter and identifying
  286.        what each letter is. Users will need to use the various controls 
  287.        of Microscope for the PC to help reveal where exactly in the slide
  288.        these letters are placed.

  290.        The entries to MOLCOL should consist of 1 x  3.5 inch floppy disc
  291.        (HD or DD) containing the user's SHARNOR1.CRE file as created by 
  292.        him/her when using Microscope for the PC (any version). In addition,
  293.        you should include a paper of less then than 30 words of why you
  294.        would like to win MICROSCOPE FOR THE PC (PRO) VERSION 1.0 or the 
  295.        prize of £25.00.

  297.        The best presented user-created tutorial file correctly identifying
  298.        the 6 letters will help determine the winner. The outright winner
  299.        will be determined by Molcol in the event of many equally-presented
  300.        and correct entries, and will be based on the reason for wanting to
  301.        win the prize. No additional correspondence will be entered into by
  302.        Molcol and no disk or other material submitted to MOLCOL will be 
  303.        returned.
