  1. SkyRider Version 1.2B

  4. SkyRider is a Windows-based control program for the MFJ 1278 Multimode
  5. Controller.  You must have Windows 3.0 (preferrably 3.1) installed
  6. on your computer to run SkyRider.
  7.  
  8. SkyRider supports Amtor, Pactor, CW, RTTY, Ascii, Navtex, HF Packet and
  9. VHF Packet modes of operation with an easy-to-use human interface. 
  10. SkyRider does not currently support SSTV or Fax features of the 1278.
  11.  
  12. SkyRider is shareware. Please read the file "Register.txt" to
  13. learn how to register your copy.

  16. Installing SkyRider

  18.  
  19. If you have downloaded SkyRider, you must first "un-zip" it (you've
  20. already done so if you're reading this file). Then you must do an "setup",
  21. as described below:

  23. You must be in Windows to install SkyRider. From the "File" menu
  24. of Program Manager, select the "Run..." item.
  25. Enter   
  26.        A:\SETUP
  27.  
  28. and click on the 'OK' button.
  29.  
  30. After a short wait, the Setup program will begin. It will ask you
  31. the name of the directory where you wish SkyRider to be stored. 
  32. After you respond, the program will proceed to install SkyRider,
  33. and build a Program Group with the SkyRider icon in it. When 
  34. installation is complete, simply click on the icon to run SkyRider.

  36. How to Use SkyRider

  38. SkyRider has extensive 'help' files that are accessible at any time
  39. by pressing the "F1" key while running SkyRider.
  40.  
  41. A "Word For Windows" format file titled "SKYRIDER.DOC" is also
  42. included. You may print it out if you have Word For Windows (a 
  43. Microsoft product) installed.  You may be able to 'import' it to
  44. other full-featured word processors. Because the file contains
  45. graphics, the 'Write' program included in Windows is not capable
  46. of processing this file.

  48. You will receive a printed manual and the latest version of the
  49. program when you register your copy of SkyRider.
