PRO-37 CELLULAR MODIFICATION
----------------------------
*NOTE*
This requires knowledge of soldering and basic electronics. Performing this
modification WILL void any warranties. BE CAREFUL!!
1. Remove battery pack. Remove 4 black screws from back. Remove squelch &
volume knobs. Gently remove back, bottom end first.
2. Desolder the BNC antenna connector, but do not damage it. Remove locknuts
from volume & squelch control shafts. Remove the 4 screw posts on the board;
they serve to lock down the 1st board as well as accept the screws on the
outer case.
3. Remove top circuit board: Gently lift up bottom end, then unplug boards
by lifting straight out. The volume & squelch controls will require some
finesse to avoid damage. Connections on the volume switch are easily broken
as well as easily resoldered (later).
4. Looking at the metal shield, remove the screw accessable through a hole in
the shield nearest the bottom end. Remove the 2 screws near the top end that
fasten the sub-chassis (the shield is affixed to this) and lift the shield.
The power wires will prevent complete removal of the shield; that's
unimportant.
5. With the display down and the vol/squelch/antena/earphone top panel to
your left, notice a row of vertical diodes about halfway down. The diode
to cut is D13. Either cut off all of one lead (best) or affix some
sort of insulative material to the leads.
6. Reassemble, resoldering any broken connections on the vol. control and the
BNC antenna connector. Reinstall locknuts, posts, and case.
7. The scanner now has continous 806-896 MHz coverage. Frequencies may be
searched or programmed, as normal.
