KENWOOD TM-732 - Positive
1. Wealth of nice features: scan modes, memory reconfiguration, mic
accessable features, DTMF memories, etc.
2. Plenty of memories. In my configuration I have about 70 memories total.
3. Excellent audio quality.
KENWOOD TM-732 - Negative
1. Intermod. Squelch breaks sometimes due to intermod even *with* CTCSS
decode turned on.
2. Very difficult user interface. Many overloaded keys, hidden functions,
cryptic indications, etc.
3. No built in duplexer.
4. Some reliability concerns. My rig had an open ground to the Mic, very
difficult to diagnose. My rig is also experiencing some receive
feedback when the unit is very hot (>120 degrees F, I'd say).
5. Poor reputation Kenwood service. I have heard enough bad things about
Kenwood service to make me afraid to send it to them. I use a local
ham (hi Lew) for my repair work.
6. Nondetachable remote head mount. The control head is remote mountable,
but once mounted, requires a screwdriver and a tiny electrical disconnect
to remove. Not practical to remove for security purposes.
7. Non backlit mic buttons. Not a problem for me, but important to some.
