TH47A
From: AB6GQ@KD6XZ.#NOCAL.CA.USA.NA
There is no Mod listed ANYWHERE for the Kenwood TH47A 440 HT.
However, after having the dealer make some calls to Kenwood, and crying
to them that if he couldn't come up with Mod, they admitted that there does
happen to be one unauthorized Mod. If you perform it, they won't honor
your warranty unless you undo the mod before returning the rig to them for
the warranty work. It is as follows:
Follow the directions in the manual for opening the rig case for the
installation of accessories (which come stock in the USA Model).
Find the little wire loop on the circuit board and clip it (same mod as
the TH27A). Put the radio back together and reset your microprocessor per
directions. Your radio will now cover from about 400Mhz to 470Mhz. It does
transmit on those frequencies. At the higher and lower ends you find a
point where the radio will beep as you turn from channel to channel, but
that doesn't seem to affect the transmit or receive, and only does it
while changing freqs. '73 Fred
