  17. SUBJECT: TS-950SDX Mode Switching
  18.  
  19. Background:
  20.  
  21. Occasionally the TS-950SDX will transmit instantaneoulsy when the mode is
  22. switched from SSB to CW with the VOX turned on.  The frequency of occurrance
  23. depends upon the setting of the VOX GAIN and DELAY controls.
  24.  
  25. Cause:  
  26.  
  27. A small amount of RF feedback is felt on analog switches IC5 and IC6 in the AF
  28. unit.  This RF causes the timing circuit to actuate briefly when the mode is
  29. changed with VOX ON.    
  30.  
  31. WARNING:  This radio uses micro-sized surface mount components, and/or
  32. multi-layer circuit boards.  If you are not familiar with the techniques for
  33. service of this type of equipment do not attempt this modification yourself. 
  34. You will invalidate your warranty if you attempt to modify the equipment and
  35. damage the radio. If you are at all in doubt about your qualification to
  36. perform this modification you should seek qualified assistance.

  38. Required Parts:
  39.  
  40. C191: 4.7uf/25v electrolytic capacitor  CW04EW1E4R7M
  41.  
  42. Procedure:
  43. 1. Unplug the DSP unit from the rear of the transceiver.
  44. 2. Remove the top and bottom covers (18 screws.)
  45. 3. Turn the unit so the bottom is up. 
  46. 4. The AF Unit is located in the front left hand corner.
  47. 5. Remove the 8 screws securing the AF Unit to the chassis.
  48. 6. Add C191 in the position indicated in figure 2.
  49.    This cap is next to C189 on the AF Unit and is also next to CN-12
  50.    This cap is not shown in the service manual.
  51. 7. Reverse steps 1-5 to reassemble.

  53. Also note that the Pins on CN10 are incorrectly marked, they are reversed. 
  54. They should be marked as follows:
