  16. MODEL: SM-230
  17. SUBJECT: RTTY CROSS PATTERN ATTENUATION
  18.  
  19. Some users of the SM-230 have reported that the MARK and SPACE gain 
  20. adjustments do not sufficiently reduce the signals to display them on 
  21. the CRT. The following modification will correct this condition.

  23. REQUIRED PARTS:
  24.  
  25. 680 OHM 1/8W RESISTOR        RD14CB2B681J        QTY. 2

  28. 1. Disconnect the power cord and control cables.
  29.  
  30. 2. Remove the top cover (6 screws).
  31.  
  32. 3. Locate the Horizontal unit. This board is vertically mounted on the 
  33.    right side of the SM-230
  34.  
  35. 4. Locate resistors R318 and R322 on the Horizontal unit.
  36.  
  37. 5. Replace R318 and R322 with 680 ohm resistors.
  38.  
  39. 6. Assemble the SM-230.
  40.  
  41. 7. Adjust the MARK and SPACE gain adjustments as necessary to obtain the 
  42.    correct cross pattern.
