  17. SUBJECT: HANG TIME/TIME OUT TIMER

  19. The RC-10 hang up time and timeout timer (Cross-band Repeater function) 
  20. are preset at the factory for three seconds and three minutes respectively. 
  21. Should it become neccessary, the RC-10 can be reprogrammed to one of four 
  22. different times for each function. The following procedure will allow the 
  23. user to select the best settings for his requirements.

  26. Procedure:

  28. 1. Disconnect the RC-10 from all other equipment.
  29.  
  30. 2. Using a thin plastic tool, remove the KENWOOD badge from the handset.
  31.  
  32. 3. Underneath the badge are two holes in the hand set. Remove the machine 
  33.    screw from the left hole.
  34.  
  35. 4. At the bottom of the handset locate two small holes in the plastic 
  36.    molding (see figure 1). Press a narrow alignment tool into both holes 
  37.    and pry the handset apart (be careful not to break the short wires inside).

  39. 5. Remove-the PTT and AF level knobs.
  40.  
  41. 6. Remove the three 3 x 6 mm machine screws that secure the metal
  42.    shield to the handset.
  43.  
  44. 7. Lift the AF unit and shield to expose the Keyboard assembly.
  45.  
  46. 8. Locate resistors R8 - 11 on the Keyboard assembly (figure 2).
  47.  
  48. 9. Connect the left side of the resistors to the ground side (right side) 
  49.    of capacitors C8-11. Use the timing chart and figure 2 for timing 
  50.    configurations.

  52. 10. Reassemble the handset. Route all wires under the cut outs on the 
  53.     shield. Do not Pinch any wires.
