The three programs comprising the VIDEO VEGAS Series are all very close
approximations of the Poker, Blackjack, and Keno slot machines as
found on the Strip and Downtown Las Vegas. There are numerous
variations of these machines from Casino to Casino, and indeed, within
the Casinos themselves. We have tried to emulate the most popular
machines in each category. On the following pages are instructions
for playing each machine, however all instructions appear on the
screen as required. Have fun with them and use them to increase your
ability to play the machines when you next visit that Nevada City of
Chance.
VIDEO POKER [F1] English [F5] Spanish
This a typical Draw Poker Slot Machine. You indicate the cards you
want to discard, and then press the [*] key. If you should decide to
change your entries you may press the [Del] key at any time before
pressing the [*] key. After the [*] is pressed, you will be dealt the
next cards from the deck, and if you have a winning hand, you will be
issued credits corresponding to the table shown on the lower portion
of the screen. You will then be asked how many coins you wish to
play. The deck is shuffled after every hand so there is no need to
try to remember if the card you need to make your hand is available.
The credits box is debited when you enter the number of coins to play
and winning credits are awarded when you have a winning hand.
VIDEO BLACKJACK [F2] English [F6] Spanish
The Blackjack Machine is patterned after one of the many variations of
Blackjack or "21" Slot Machines found all over Las Vegas. It permits
"doubling down" and "splitting pairs" but not "insurance" as most of
the Vegas machines do not. When playing the slot machines, additional
coins are required to be deposited to enable these options. The
Credits Box is debited when you chose these options.
You may ask the program for the recommended play by pressing the space
bar. A running "card count" may also be displayed by pressing the "C"
key. Use of these features should help you learn the basic strategy
used by most serious Blackjack players. There are several good paper
back books on the game, which explain these systems.
VIDEO KENO [F3] English [F7] Spanish
The Keno Machine also is based on a typical Las Vegas machine. You
may play from 1 to 5 coins and pick from 1 to 10 spots. The payouts
are shown on the screen in the upper right hand corner. Picks are
entered from either the upper number keys or the right hand keypad. If
you enter 10 spots the play is automatic, if you want less than 10
spots enter [*] after your last pick. For each pick enter the number
and then [CR] or ENTER. When the play is complete the results are
flashing near the bottom of the screen. At that time you will be
asked if you want to play again. A [Y] response or a [CR] will start
the play again. Enter the number of coins. You will then be asked if
you wish to play the same spots. If yes, a [Y] or [CR] will start
play with the same spots. An [N] will allow you to select a new group
of spots.
BLACKJACK STRATEGY CHART [F4] English [F8] Spanish
Displays a typical strategy system indicating recommended play based
on the Dealers's card. This chart should be memorized so that the
proper play becomes automatic. A printed reference copy may be made by
pressing the Shift and PrtSc keys.
