Ver: Notes:
2.6 Version 2.6 is a consolidated version to account
for all the changes made to V 2.5.
2.6a 1) A bug fixed:
Bug was when demand button on menu was
pressed before closing demand button.
2) Major Change to Dialog / Message Boxes
Queing enabled. Multiple messages
will queue up behind one another.
When closing the box and another
message is in the queue that message
will be displayed.
3) Major Change to Menus
When selecting a menu and selecting
another box, the sub-menu will vanish.
2.6b 1) New Addition
You can now toggle the sound from the
file menu. (Assuming you have the
sound blaster card set up)
2) Changes to Chat System
Changes made to bring up chat box
to current standards.
2.6c 1) Changes to Chat System
a) Changes made to make chat message
boxes to current standards.
b) Bug that caused the chat box not
to pop up sometimes has been fixed.
2) Minor change to Person Box
Short names now display correctly.
2.6d 1) "Reply" button on chat messgae box works.

3) Adjusted Dump and Derail Dialog Boxes.
2.6e 1) Minor Changes
a) Menu Items that do nothing will cause
a message from the conductor.
b) Load legend now moveable.
c) on menus "Manual" is now "Reference"
d) Clicking on small demand card box allowed.
e) Clicking on city name/ amount on small
demand card scrolls the cards.
f) load and unload only show up if you have
something to load/unload. A message will
be given by the conductor otherwise.
g) Start train message smaler.
h) Conductor's messages are stacked not
queued, the last message will always
be on top.
i) "Messages" on the menu bar now toggles
between full and terse messages.
j) Press "esc" from the comm box to close
without transmitting.
2.6f 1) Minor Changes
a) Conductor and receive message boxes
now word wrap for your viewing pleasure.
b) Mapkey and Debt box now start as centered.
c) Blank and Can't Load Icons swapped.
d) Load/Unload will not work if disasters
are present in the city.
e) Demand Cards look better.
2.6g 1) More Minor Changes
a) Conductor box messages will go away
after a period of time (several seconds).
b) More improvment on the demand cards.
c) Game Script included for SFE.
2.6h 1) Even More Minor Changes
a) Left unattended or hidden, the it's your
turn box will self destruct in 15 seconds.
b) The text fields in the control panel
is now a lovely shade purple.
2.6i 1) A Few More Minor Changes
a) Message Recieve box will now display the
person's name as it should.
b) Some important messages will bump other
less important messages out of the way
in order to be seen.
2.6j 1) Just a Few More Things
a) About boxes remember where cleared and
pop back to that location.
b) When the Comm box is up the panel box
will not pop up in front of it.
c) "Move Done" and "Build Done" added
when the amount of movement/build
reaches zero.
2.6k 1) They Just Keep Comming, Don't They?
a) Background now mased on tile.pcx.
b) Check buttons now have a "check"
2.6l 1) Fixes
a) Load/Unload buttons no longer have
the funny square outline in them.
2) Major Change
a) Operational disaster box, you can
now move/scroll through the newspapers.
2.7 Version 2.7 contains some new features, but is
mostly a production cut due to development
platform changes.
1) Minor Adjustments
a) Conductor box will clear in 3 seconds
if there is another message in the
queue, 6 seconds otherwise.
b) Very important messages clear the queue
faster at the expense of seeing all the
intermediate messages.
c) Text in load/unload is now transparent.
d) Comm box now has more grey.
2.7a Patch Level A is a compiler change from Watcom 9.x
to Watcom 10.
2.7b 1) Some minor Changes.
a) Debt window will now remember where it last was cleared.
b) Debt window can now be called up from main menu bar.
c) Big faces now cover the entire chat box and other player
windows.
d) Start train message adjusted.
e) Replying to a message will clear the message.
2.7c 2) Art Changes
a) Faces adjusted.
b) Load/Unload box loads adjusted.
c) Load/Unload box OK CLEAR buttons moved and adjusted.
d) Receive Chat Boxes now will appear where closed.
2.7d 1) A new file - ebnew.txt describes the game in some detail.
2) 6x10.fnt coppied to system72.fnt to create smaller text font.
3.0 Recompiled to new version of the GUI.
Minor changes in the way some boxes work.
3.1 DLL Version.
3.2 TXE Version.
Some boxes which were designed to go on top
now stay on top. These include.
Message Boxes.
"It's your turn" box.
Control Panel box.
3.3 Several adjustments to new GUI features.
3.3a Fixed bug where system would reboot upon occasionally clicking
on the atlantic ocean.
3.4 New music and sound system works off SFE config files.
Due to problems testing on pentium, sound (not music)
is initially set to off, you MUST select sound from the
file menu to turn it on, and it may cause your computer
to reboot.
3.4a More new music. Sound still causes REBOOT on pentium.
3.5 Almost ready to be released.
New problem crashes on exit.
3.5a MUSIC WORKS!
SOUNDS WORK!
READY TO BE RELEASED!
3.5b MUSIC and SOUND bug fixed. (never knew it was there!)
3.5c I can't spell Lose. - Losing sound now works!

3.5o Fixed small problem with global map / disasters and low memeory
if there is low memory, the system will display disasters on
the map very slowly but it will not run out of memory.
3.5p Recompile of the GUI.
3.6 New Beta Ready Release.
Version control is now implemented on the Host end, so
If you do not have the latest version, you will be notified.
3.7 New changes to the GUI boxes.
Confirmation boxes and load/unload boxes more modal. You can not
click elsewhere on the screen until you answer the boxes.
Better messages.
3.7a Automove has more messages explaining why the train stops.
3.8 Various Adjustments to boxes:
Minimized demand cards now uses maximize button.
Unload for $, Load, and Derail loads dialog boxes are
now more modal. This means that they can not be moved.
To move them, select the Dump dialog box, move it and
press (OK).
The Load and Unload boxes have been trimmed to cover
the size of the map and not overlap onto the control
panel.
3.8a Music and Sound drivers can be on installed drive.
3.9 When building track, drawing cards or upgarding train, your
turn will now automatcally end when done.
More error messages when moving.
New music. (sounds like old music)
3.10 Fix for occasional lost turn using auto end in single plyr.
3.10a Error where some invalid tracks from major cities would in
build mode count as building a track from a major city
has been fixed.
3.11 Non working menu items removed.
Sub menus now are on the top level of windows.
3.11a Debt window always on top.
3.11b You can not borrow money when it is not your turn. (BUGID #2)
Survey Track bug fixed (BUGID #4)
3.11c Drag feature extended to auto search track when not adjacent.
Currently major citties and other player's track are not supported.
This effectively resolves (BUGID #5) (BUGID #16)
Chat Box remains when enter is pressed.
Any key will now bring up the chat box if it has not been already
processed by the active window.
Alt and Ctrl Keys WILL NOT BRING UP chat box window.
NOTE KEYBOARD SUPPORT FOR MENUS (WHEN IMPLEMENTED) WILL HAVE PRIORITY
OVER CHAT BOX.

Error and warning messages will not display when track is being surveyed.
Moving on other's track when you do not have sufficient funds will not
be allowed on front end. You will also get a message the first time you
attempt to cross other player's tracks. (BUGID #12)
Chat box now has a train track bar as well as a close button. (BUGID #18)
Close button always clears and closes, Escape key clears and closes if
the box was already cleared.
Drawing cards when it is not legal will produce an error message.
This resolves (BUGID #26) (BUGID #36)
Global map now has a close button. (BUGID #27)
Face box now has a close button. (BUGID #31)
Bug where newspaper brought up through menu always was blank fixed. (BUGID #33)
Menu items now go away when the esc key is pressed. (BUGID #34)
Resign now also causes exit. (BUGID #39)
Opening the telegraph window brings it to were you last left it. (BUGID #41)
3.11d You will not be allowed to load/unload when it is not your turn.
3.12 WINDOWS::Sound and Music enabled.
3.12a Error in undoing extended drag moving fixed.
3.12b Chat Box now has non scrolling text area on top.
3.13 Window locations are now saved in "windows.dat".
3.13a Disaster messages have a 3 second delay after displaying.
Dumping cards producing a derailment no longer causes problems.
This fix has been made cmpatible with the current CD version as
well as this version on the new host upgrade.
3.14 Error in Dumping cards from 3.13a fixed.
Disaster over graphic can now be moved and closed with close button.
You will be prompted to confirm build anytime you have movement points
remaining. (BUGID # 97)
When you do not have any loads, you will be so informed when trying to
either unload or dump the loads you do not have. (BUGID #110)
You can no longer dump your loads when it is not your turn. (BUGID #109)
3.14a Right mouse clicks on the global map will always center the regional map
even if the mouse click is on an invalid location.
Right mouse will correctly move the scroll bars as well.
Game Over/ It's Not your Turn Messages added to several more options.
Modal Dialogue Boxes can now be moved.
Modal Dialogue boxes include, yes no confirm boxes,
as well as load, unload, dump and derail boxes.
3.15 Modal Load / Unload moved over regional map.
Advisor text also appears in the Chat Box text area.
Direct Move will now use other player's track if a route cannot be
found using player's track. It still does not cover major citties.
3.16 Various and sundry changes, bug fixes, minor graphics adjustments.
3.17 Win Loose Screen can now be moved and has a title bar with text.
Confirmation box for Exit.
Some messages adjusted to a gender neutral bias.
Name now appears on the title bar and not in the $$$ section.
Player's names now appear on the titlebars.
3.18 When you are now asked to start your train, you may survey without
penalty. Pressing the move train button in this state will bring
you back to the start train state.
Windows mode now properly uses the registry to determine its location.
Pop up tool tips for demand box, player box and control panel enabled.
Context sensitive help coded into program.
3.19 Movement across several players track will properly check for each
expenditure of $4M before movement is committed.
Atlantic Ocean trimmed so that bays are no longer considered
a part of the coastline.
3.20 Resign now has a confirmation box.
New Global Disaster Drawings and Newspapers.
Context Help enabled.
Music can now be disabled/enabled.
Buttons (menu items) which indicate a state which
can be toggled will default to depressed if toggled.
3.21 An error in which instaling to a directory with spaces in it
would cause garbled noises has been fixed.
Title bar will now appear for the Regional Map, so it can be moved
more easily.
3.22 A bug where some windows were not saved when re-positioned has
been fixed.
3.23 Right clicking on the gobal map will now srcoll the regional map
to all the four corners of the map.
Regional Map converted to rr tracks title bar.
3.24 Fixes to several bugs.
Mouse bugs in text window of chat box.
Music on ditrectories with spaces in it.
3.25 Misc changes to spees performance.
3.26 Face, train upgrade boxes made modal.
modal yes no boxes no longer dirty the menu in windows mode.
minor map changes (square mileposts rounded in regional map
and detroit colored correctly in global map).
3.27 Citties that do no provie materials will no longer say that
they provide " " when pressed with the right mouse button.
Menu items now green/dark green (was green/pink)
Music/Sound options now saved between sessions.
Telegraph faces will now grey out when off line.
In addition pressing the telegraph face brings up
player's loads and demand dards.
Regional map moveable and knows where to place itself.
3.28 Disaster over message now can be closed by pressing the
picture. These messages can now be moved and saved as
a single unit.
Pressing enter on the telegraph window when no one is
selected will no longer clear the text line.
Events which have no duration (derailments, tax event)
will no longer linger on the newspaper after the turn is
over.
When trying to unload a payload for cash outside a city,
the system will tell you not only that you don't have any
loads to deliver, but that you are not also at a city!
Your Turn box will now stay up 5 seconds instead of 15.
3.29 Minor error where your turn box would vanish while it
was being moved has been fixed.
Movement across distance has been improved and optimized:
You can now move across major citties.
You can now more easily move across other player's track.
3.30 Upgrading Train Will ALWAYS ask for confirmation
and will now indicate that doing so will end your turn.
Private messages will be indicated by the word whispers.
(Public messages are brodcast to all)
In the telegraph window ALL and CLEAR only work on
players in the game, i.e. they no longer affect the
MPGN symbols.
Telegraph noise on advisor removed as it tended to obsure
other important sounds in the windows non sound overlapping
version.
Debt window will update when others move on your track.
Player can exit without penalty if they have not moved
or built track.
Resigned player's trains will now vanish.
Track rental now includes the player's name.
3.31 Small optimization on global map in displaying disasters.
Modification and optimization of popup moveable windows.
(it's your turn, disaster is over, etc.)
3.32 Tool Tips can now be turned off.
Windows can now be brought back to original positions.
Blue title bar will always be blue even when not active.
Errors not caught by the front end will now properly
be caught and returned to the host. The host and not the
front end will signal end of movement and end of build.
Optimal movement routine improved. (was causing problems
in six player games by causing long computation times.)
Modal dialog boxes adjusted, Modal box to confirm upgrade
train will no longer linger while the modal box to indicate
train type is around.
3.33 Colors modified to match EXACTLY with track and train for
windwos cases where colors are approximated to the 256 windows
palette. (or worse)
Atlantic Hurricane over desire to go inland reduced.
Other player's windows are now saved upon exiting.
3.34 Legends/Loads windows unique.
Your turn/Disaster Over windows can be independantly positioned.
Bug in 3.33 Corrected.
3.35 Blank advisor messages should no longer appear after each message.
The 6th player face will now show his loads not the creator's.
Pressing on the train will move the train, for all players,
including yourself.
"Message level set to Maximum" (was "Maxium").
You can no longer depress the icons on the confirmation
boxes.
3.36 Disasters Newspaper window closes when newspaper is pressed.
Icons are optimized on global map to remove redundancies.
Debt window defaults to player box default location.
3.37 Adjustments to the movement routine will now ensure that
movement over other players track will only occur when
no reasonable route canbe found using players track
Fix on the advisor box, now if there are several messages
queued up they box will flip faster than when there is only
one message to be displayed. (This was previously broke and
all messages were flipping at the fast speed.)
Fix on exiting program which was only noticable on the DOS
version. (Which caused it to crash)
3.38 Win/Loose screens consolidated ... Now 640x480 .
New background tile.
New help file.
Raleigh now spelled correctly on the demand cards.
Modified word wraping routine in advisor box and
in confirmation dialogs.
3.39 Starting train in middle of major city gives appropiate message.
Automove from middle of major city gives appropiate message.
Bug with Tool Tips which would cause slow computers to crash when
the "It's your turn" message flashed on and off the screen has
been fixed.
Bug where no message was given when trying to build out of a major
city where the third person's access would be denied has been fixed.
3.40 Major bug in the movement routines fixed.
Access to Major City Rule is now enforced.
Background Tile dulled somewhat.
3.41 Error in who's turn tool tips fixed.
Borrowing will mention paying back twice of the amount.
Error where you could cancel derail if you had no loads fixed.
3.42 Disaster Newspaper window scroll bars will no longer circle back.
Pressing automove when you have not yet started your train will
give an appropiate message.
Game creators can now force any player to end their turns.
Chat box names now color coded.
Pressing automove when train has no movement left gives message.
3.43 Error in Major City Rule (NY has only 16 valid connections, Chicago
was not included) Fixed. NY 16, Chi Sea LA 17, All others 18.
3.44 Some minor bugs squashed, mostly problems for DOS modes. The large
maps are allocated earlier, this should save much needed memory
fragmentation. A display bug in the global window was squashed.
Two graphics files that were never used are no longer loaded into
memory, should give a little more space for the 8 meg dos version.
3.45 New conductor box, larger text area.
MPGN logos removed from chat box.
New version of Regional Map, shows state borders.
New cover for third load for trains that can only carry two loads.
3.46 New improved map, USA is a darker green, canada now former US color.
New and improved faces.
Text area on the chat box is now centered.
3.47 Paging added, people in the SAS can now page players in the game.
Face box changed, faces are now unique.
Face box appears at the start of the game.
Some map features are adjusted to reflect the map conditions.
3.47a Regional Map will now expand to reflect the available screen
space. Other windows such as the demand cards, your own box
and the control panel will align to the new regional map area
when the windows are reset.
You can now click on the advisor and he will go away.
Disasters will be displayed on the regional map.
Disasters on the regional map will reflect the current
mode of the game. That is it will show areas where movement
is blocked/slowed or cargo undeliverable/unavailable in movement
phases and building impossible in building/survey phases.
Problem with close button on global map fixed.
3.47b Modifications made to the keep alive "ping" system.
Pings will be generated more frequently and will ensure
the system stays alive. (Pings will be generated every 10
seconds.)
The global map will not load itself into memory until the
player first requests the global map. This should provide
better performance on computers with small amounts of memory.
