  1. Hi, and welcome to Jewel Thief!

  3. HOW TO PLAY
  4.  
  5. Your goal is to steal as many jewels as you can.  by running over the jewels
  6. with your mouse while avoiding the guards.  Once you steal all the jewels on
  7. a level, a new set of guards will appear.  The scene changes every two levels.
  8. You lose a man every time a guard touches you or you leave the playing field.
  9. Once you steal the diamonds, you will find out about the jewel of great price.

  14. Jewel Thief is dedicated to my wife Nancy who enhanced my knowledge of jewels
  15. past that of an engagement ring.  She also inspired the rainbow in the last
  16. scene.

  18. Jewel Thief is not crippled in any way except that it can't sing.  I figured
  19. you didn't want the whole office to know you are not getting your work done.

  21. Jewel Thief was originally written in Actor but I found people don't like to 
  22. downloaded 500K programs.  I do like Actor for large projects.
  23.  
  24. For those of you who have made it to the castle scene, yes, I know that
  25. "Gold" is not a jewel.  I needed a 14th level to round out the game.

  43. payment of $15 will register Jewel Thief and a copy of the Microsoft C source
  44. code and accompanying resources.

  46. Jewel Thief is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge to the user
  47. for evaluation.  Feel free to share it with your friends, but please do not
  48. give it away altered or as part of another system.

  50. Anyone distributing Jewel Thief for any kind of remuneration must first
  51. contact Paul Ligeski at the address below for authorization.  You are
  52. encouraged to pass a copy of Jewel Thief along to your friends for evaluation.
