  1. ColorCodes is a Mastermind game for MS Windows.

  12. Version 4.2 of ColorCodes has two new features: an "Undo" feature
  13. which allows you to retract guesses made in CodeBreaker, and a
  14. "Hint" feature which will automatically make the next guess for you
  15. in CodeBreaker.

  19. About 100K is required to install the game on your hard disk.
  20. The game can be run from a floppy disk.  It is recommended that you
  21. make a backup floppy if you do this.

  23. The ColorCodes game package consists of four files:

  25. CC.EXE
  26. CC.INI
  27. CC.HLP
  28. CCREADME.TXT
  29.  
  30. CC.EXE is the executable file for the program.
  31. Windows version 3.0 or higher is required to use the program.
  32. This file is required to use the program.
  33.  
  34. CC.INI is an initialization file for the program.
  35. This file is required to use the program.
  36.  
  37. CC.HLP is a Windows help file for the program.
  38. It is recommended, but not absolutely required for using the program.
  39. If it is not installed, the help facility for the program will not
  40. be available.

  42. CCREADME.TXT is this file.
  43. It is not required for using the program.
  44. Its installation is completely optional.
  45.  
  46. If you pass this program on to a friend, please give them all four
  47. of the files.

  51. To install the ColorCodes game, copy the three files, 
  52. CC.EXE, CC.INI, and CC.HLP to the directory of your choice.
  53.  
  54. If you have a GAMES directory on your hard disk, and the ColorCodes files
  55. are on a floppy in your computer's A: drive, the DOS command to copy
  56. the files is:
  57.  
  58. COPY A:CC.* C:\GAMES
  59.  
  60. Of course, you may copy individual files as follows:
  61.  
  62. COPY A:CC.EXE C:\GAMES
  63. COPY A:CC.INI C:\GAMES
  64. COPY A:CC.HLP C:\GAMES
  65.  
  66. You may also copy the file from the A: floppy drive to your hard disk
  67. from the Windows File Manager as follows:
  68.  
  69. Click on the A: drive icon to log onto the A: drive.
  70. Open the root directory of the A: drive by double clicking on the
  71. folder icon.  A window showing the files in the root directory should
  72. appear.  Resize this window and move it to the side of the directory
  73. tree window.

  75. Click on the C: drive (or whatever harddrive you like) icon.
  76. Open the directory tree sufficiently to reveal the directory into which
  77. you would like to copy the ColorCodes files.  Select the ColorCodes
  78. files in the A: drive root directory window, and drag them over the
  79. appropriate folder icon in the harddrive directory tree window.

  83. You may setup ColorCodes as a program item in a program group in the
  84. Windows Program Manager as follows:
  85.  
  86. Double click on the the program group icon into which you would like to
  87. add the ColorCodes game.  This should open the program group window within
  88. the Program Manager window.  Next select File New... from the Program
  89. Manager's menu.  A dialog box appears with radio buttons for new
  90. program group or new program item.  Click on the new program item
  91. radio button, and then on the dialog box OK button.  A program item
  92. properties dialog box then appears with type-in boxes for description and
  93. command line.  Type "ColorCodes" into the description field.  In the
  94. command line field type the command line required to start the program.
  95. For example, if the program is installed in the C:\GAMES directory,
  96. type "C:\GAMES\CC.EXE" into the command line field.  For Windows 3.1 and
  97. higher, you should also fill in the working directory field.  If the
  98. program is installed in the C:\GAMES directory, type "C:\GAMES" in the 
  99. working directory field.  If everthing is ok, click on the dialog box
  100. OK button, and the ColorCodes icon is added to the program group window.
