  1. PAGESTREAM 2.2 HL PATCH PROGRAM
  2. ===============================

  4. While PageStream 2.2 was designed to work with HotLinks, many changes
  5. have been made to HotLinks since version 2.2 was released. Soft-Logik
  6. Publishing has therefore released PageStream 2.2 HL which works
  7. properly with HotLinks 1.0.
  8.  
  9. PageStream 2.2 needs to be patched to PageStream 2.2 HL. The files in
  10. this archive contain everything you need to create PageStream 2.2 HL
  11. from your existing PageStream 2.2 program.

  13. PAGESTREAM 2.2 - WHICH VERSION?
  14. ===============================

  16. There are actually two different versions of PageStream numbered 2.2.
  17. Thus, there are two different patches included in this archive, one for
  18. each version of PageStream 2.2. Pgs22.pch is for users who received
  19. PageStream 2.2 as a new product on a 4 disk set. Pgs22u.pch is for
  20. users who received 2.2 on the single upgrade disk. This is important
  21. because the patches will not work on the wrong release of PageStream
  22. 2.2.

  24. After the patch is complete, the original version of PageStream2 
  25. will be renamed to PageStream2.old and the new version will be named 
  26. PageStream2. The PageStream2.old file may be deleted once you have
  27. tested to see if the patch was successfully completed.

  29. DISK SPACE REQUIREMENTS
  30. =======================

  32. Use of this patch program requires at least 1.5 MB of free disk space.
  33. Floppy drive users cannot run this patch from a floppy disk. If you
  34. have enough memory to copy PageStream2 and the patch files to RAM, and
  35. still have 1.5 MB free, you can run the patch program from RAM.
  36. Otherwise, you will be unable to run the patch program. If this is the
  37. case, you should contact Soft-Logik for an upgrade disk instead. A $5
  38. disk and shipping fee will be charged.

  40. INSTRUCTIONS
  41. ============

  43. The program is run from the CLI Shell. To apply the patch, follow
  44. these steps:
  45.  
  46. 1. Open a CLI shell.
  47.    - double click on the Shell icon on the Workbench. A shell will
  48.      open.
  49.  
  50. 2. Change to the drawer on your hard drive where PageStream2 is kept.
  51.    - type cd drivename:PageStream2
  52.    - i.e. cd work:PageStream2
  53.    - or:  cd dh0:PageStream2
  54.  
  55. 3. Copy the patch files to the PageStream directory. The easiest way
  56.    to do this is to uncompress the files in this archive directly to
  57.    the PageStream directory. Alternatively, you can copy them with the
  58.    Shell. The required files are the appropriate patch file and the
  59.    lpatch program.

  61. 4. Execute the Patch program.
  62.    - i.e. lpatch -ppgs22.pch PageStream2 (for users who received 2.2
  63.                                           as a new product.)
  64.    - or:  lpatch -ppgs22u.pch PageStream2 (for users who received 2.2
  65.                                            as an upgrade.)
  66.    - note that there are two p's after the hyphen. This is not a typo.

  68. 5. The lpatch program created a new program called PageStream2. Verify
  69.    that this program has been created.
  70.    - i.e. list
  71.  
  72. 6. Delete the old PageStream2 program.
  73.    - i.e. delete PageStream2.old
  74.    
  75. That's it. Your copy of PageStream is now fully updated to PageStream
  76. release 2.2 HL.
