*** GSXSet (Amiga Program) ***
*** Docs (KjP) ***
This program was written especially for those who have
gone out and bought a Citizen GSX series printer with a
command view control panel (in my opinion, a good choice) and
found out that the it mainly is an IBM clone printer (no
suprise whatsoever here.) So much so that there was an IBM
disk supplied with the printer. The disk has a couple of IBM
programs to support the printer, including the entire ref-
erence manual (which could also be bought on paper format.)
Since the Amiga has so much of the printer support for
color etc. built in, much of these programs are of little use
to the average Amiga user. The only thing that I really miss
is being able to name the macros anything other that their
preset names. In my research, I've found that the IBM program
has a limit on the names that the printer doesn't. The
printer supports lower case and most symbols and the IBM
program only accepts uppercase (it's the frame of mind of the
machine, too.)
Citizen has no knowledge of this program, although they
probably should ship something like this to Amiga users free
of charge, and maybe an Amiga version of their reference
manual. To keep in the spirit of things, I suggest reading
the owners manual to get any information about macros and
their functions. I will only give information not found in
the manual (about this program.) This program is not copy-
writed or anything, do with it what you will. I will wish
that somehow my name be mentioned along with any version of
this program (I'm vain.)
The program is straight forward enough. Just click on
the gadgets to choose which preferences you wish, then lastly
click on the SEND MACRO gadget to send whatever macro you
wish. One warning, look in the user's manual for the printer
to see which values are correct. I do only the most necessary
parameter checking in this program (to keep it from crashing.)
If you send something the printer doesn't like, I have no idea
what'll happen. I experimented a lot on my own, and found no
adverse effects yet.
The HELP key is enabled (something that I wish ALL
programs use!) Just press it while the program window is act-
ivated to get a short description on how to use the program.
