Wellcome to the exiting MacIntosh¨ world with A-Max¨ !
This disk contains a collection of small utilities, which will make the use of A-Max more joyous.
Here are a couple of tools of special interest for A-Max users, and some programs that many Mac-owners use every day. All files on this disk are Public Domain or Shareware. You can copy the files and give them to anybody you want. But please, do not charge more than 2US$ per disk, and do not alter any files!!!
You are hereby encouraged to send the small donation that some of the programmers ask for their work.
With most programs there are doc-files. A few are in MacWrite¨ format, so you will need a suitable program to read them.
I actually spent a lot of time collecting and testing these programs. I would very much like to have some feed-back from other A-Max users. Could you at least send me a postcard telling what system you are running and what you think about this compilation. A small description of each program:
"DiskParam". A rather annoying characteristic about A-Max up to version 2.06 is, that it allways boots with the slowest mouse speed and the sound turned off.
These parameters are set in the control-panel, and the settings are in a real Mac stored in a few bytes of battery backed-up memory called the PRAM (Parameter RAM). As the Amiga¨ does not have this PRAM the settings are reset every time you leave A-Max.
DiskParam is an INIT, which will fix your problems by storing your settings in a file in the systemfolder. Install DiskParam by dragging the icon to the systemfolder on your startup-disk. Also read the docs!
"Pointing Device" is a mouse accelerator for people wanting more speed. Drag to systemfolder and set your preferences in the controlpanel.

"Fuzz" is an INIT written especially for A-Max II. The program reduces interlace flicker by using antialiasing. Thus the screen is turned into 2 bitplanes. The image will be a little blurry, but with a lot less flicker.
This program is not relevant if you have a VGA display. Read docs!
Seems to be compatible with A-Max ver. 2.06 only.
"MountImage" can be very usefull for all of us who have not got a high density drive. If you get software, that is only installable from HD disks, you can copy the disks to image-files using Apple's DiskCopy program (On a real Mac with FDHD drive). Then transfer the imagefile to your A-Max harddisk partition or big RAM-drive. With MountImage installed in your system folder, you can access the images as if they were real drives. (I installed system 7.0.1 this way :-)).

"EpsonDriver". A-Max can emulate Apple ImageWriter¨ on Epson¨ compatible printers. However, because of a different resolution and distance between needles than the Epson printers, the print will be stretched and won't fit with the paper. EpsonDriver supports 9-pin as well as 24-pin printers. If you have such a printer, drag the driver to the systemfolder and set it up in the chooser. When using this driver the A-Max printeremulation must be turned off in the A-Max preferences!
You might encounter problems though, as a few Mac programs will only accept the original Apple drivers. Keep the ImageWriter driver in your systemfolder for use with such programs.

"PopChar" is a very usefull tool, that most Mac users know. Drag to systemfolder and restart. Place the pointer in the upper left corner of the screen and hold down the mouse button. You will now be able to choose any character from the active font and see what keystrokes will give the same result. Especially on the Amiga keyboard some characters are hard to find, but with PopChar you can find any character from any font you use. Read the doc in the PopChar folder !

"FlashIt" is a control-panel document which sets up some f-keys. It will make you able to cut out any part of any screen and store it in the clipboard, in a file, in the scrapbook or dump it to your printer. Install by dragging to your systemfolder. Read docs!

"SuperClock" is a control-panel document to show the time and date in the menubar. Features hour-chime, alarm etc. Drag to systemfolder and read the docs.
"Init cdev" is an INIT to turn different inits on and off at boot/restart. Drag to systemfolder, restart and hold down mousebutton when the Welcome window appears. Remember to read the doc.

"M¿ire" is a screensaver with a lot of patterns. Set your preferences in the controlpanel after you dragged it to the systemfolder. Read docs!

"PICTuresque" is a disk-accessory for viewing PICT-, MacPaint- and EPS-files. You can copy to the clipboard and save as PICT-file. Install with the Font/DA mover. See docs.
"Mac+ MemMap" is a PICT-fil, so you can practice.
"System Errors" is a DA containing a list of Error Codes and their interpretation. If you get systemerrors this might help you find the problem. Install with Font/DA Mover.
"Fast Formatter" is handy if you need to format a lot of disks. Works with Amiga drives as well as Mac drives. Read docs!
"DiskDup+" is a disk-copying program that makes identical copys. Apples own "DiskCopy" does not work on A-Max! DiskDup+ works equally fine on Amiga and Mac drives, and you can read from any drive and write to any drive. The program uses a lot of RAM and only seems to run under MultiFinder (and maybe if you have 2MB ChipRAM or an MMU). Read docs!
"Icon Designer" is an iconeditor. You can open the icon-resource of a program and edit all icons. USE ONLY ON COPYS! Docs in the program.
"Anonymity" is a naughty program. It can remove the personalisation in a lot of commercial programs, so that you can write another name. The program does not try to alter serial numbers, so pirated copys can still be traced!
"Big Brother" is an INIT. drag to systemfolder and restart. A couple of eyeballs will now follow your every move from the menubar. Use with care, as some programs does not like beeing stared at ;-).
"Solitaire1". The disk was not quite full, so I put a small game here for you to relax on after trying all the other things
