  9. All     - Selects all filenames and directories in the current
  10.           directory or ZIP file that satisfy the INCLUDE and 
  11.           EXCLUDE patterns.
  12.  
  13. CLEAR -   De-selects all filenames and directories in the current
  14.           directory or ZIP file.
  15.  
  16. COPY    - Copies all selected files from the current directory to the
  17.           destination specified in the DESTINATION window.  Dates,
  18.           protection attributes and comments are also copied.  If the
  19.           file already exists in the DESTINATION directory and has
  20.           the same date and time, it is skipped.
  21.           
  22.           There is one exception to this: if the DESTINATION  is the 
  23.           same as the SRC directory, then you have the opportunity
  24.           to provide a new name for the destination file.
  25.  
  26.           Copy is fully recursive and will copy all files and 
  27.           subdirectories from a selected directory.  Any files in
  28.           subdirectories will be copied only if they pass the filters.
  29.  
  30. DELETE  - Deletes all selected files (or directories) in the current 
  31.           directory or ZIP file.  This function will prompt for 
  32.           confirmation before proceeding.
  33.  
  34.           WARNING: Delete is fully recursive and will delete all files
  35.           and subdirectories found in any selected directory.  Delete
  36.           will request a second confirmation before proceeding.  Files
  37.           in subdirectories will be deleted only if they pass the
  38.           filters.
  39.  
  40. INFO    - Activates the File Attribute Editor.  This allows you to 
  41.           rename files, edit AmigaDOS and ZIP file comments and change
  42.           the file attributes (HSPA RWED) using buttons.  Once changes
  43.           are made, use the mouse to select the SAVE button to store
  44.           the changes and return to the file list window.  Select the 
  45.           ABORT button to return to the file list window without 
  46.           altering the current selection.  ABORT also cancels any 
  47.           pending file selections.  Select the QUIT button to return
  48.           to the file list window without altering the current
  49.           selection.
  50.  
  51.           Info also displays the Compressed Size, Compression Method
  52.           and the Compression Ratio if the selected file is inside a
  53.           ZIP file.  You may change the filename, comment or attributes
  54.           for any file inside a ZIP file.
  55.  
  56.           If the selected file is a ZIP file, additional information
  57.           will be presented.  This information includes the total 
  58.           uncompressed size, the total compressed size and the ratio
  59.           of compression as well as the number of files in the ZIP.
  60.           You may add a ZIP Comment to the ZIP file.  This comment may
  61.           be up to 255 characters lone.

  63. DISPLAY - Displays all selected files in the current directory or ZIP 
  64.           file.  Each file is displayed in the order it is listed in
  65.           the files window.  Pressing the right mouse button or 
  66.           clicking in the Display Window close-box will advance to 
  67.           the next selected file in the list.
  68.  
  69.           Click the mouse in the top half of the display screen to
  70.           scroll towards the beginning of the file.  Click the mouse
  71.           in the bottom half of screen to scroll towards the end of the
  72.           file. (Or use the Arrow buttons or slider to scroll.)
  73.  
  74. PRINT   - Prints all selected files in the current directory or ZIP 
  75.           file to the selected printer device (PRT: PAR: or SER:).
  76.  
  77.           If no files are selected and PRINTER ECHO is off, PRINT
  78.           prints the file list to the printer.  This is a handy way
  79.           to get a hardcopy of the file list or the ZIP catalog.
  80.         
  81. INCLUDE - Presents a tool that allows you to insert up to three masks
  82.           which will be used to determine which files ARE displayed in
  83.           the files window.  This is a handy way to reduce clutter
  84.           while viewing files or ZIP listings.
  85.  
  86. PALETTE - Presents a tool which allows you to change the colors of the
  87.           screen.  Click on each color button and use the color sliders
  88.           to change that color.  Pressing the OK button will enable 
  89.           PKAZIP to use the current selections. Pressing the CANCEL
  90.           button aborts any color pending color changes and exits the
  91.           Palette tool.  Pressing the RESET button returns the colors
  92.           to the settings which were active on entry to the Palette
  93.           tool but does not exit the Palette tool.
  94.  
  95. ABORT   - Abort the current operation.
  96.  
  97. UNZIP   - Extracts (decompresses) all selected ZIP files to the
  98.           destination directory specified in the DESTINATION window.
  99.           Decompression rules are specified using the EXTRACT pull-down
  100.           menu.
  101.  
  102. ZIP     - Compresses selected files and adds them to the ZIP file
  103.           specified in the DESTINATION window.  Compression rules are
  104.           specified using the COMPRESS pull-down menu.
  105.  
  106. TEST    - Tests all selected ZIP files by recalculating the 32-bit
  107.           CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check) for each file.
  108.  
  109. SEARCH  - Search offers two very POWERFUL and UNIQUE modes:
  110.  
  111.           SEARCH BY COMMENT:
  112.  
  113.                If the COMMENT button is set to display AmigaDOS
  114.                filenotes, then SEARCH will examine all AmigaDOS
  115.                filenotes.  In addition, SEARCH will examine all
  116.                file comments stored with each file in a ZIP
  117.                catalog!
  118.  
  119.           SEARCH BY FILENAME:
  120.  
  121.                If the COMMENT button is set to display AmigaDOS
  122.                filenames, dates, times, and protection bits, then
  123.                SEARCH will examine all AmigaDOS filenames.  In
  124.                addition, SEARCH will examine each filename in a
  125.                ZIP catalog!
  126.  
  127.           Both search modes offer anchored pattern match (refer to
  128.           WILDCARDS below in MISCELLANEOUS NOTES) to the pattern
  129.           entered in the SEARCH string box:
  130.  
  131.                PATTERN:       MEANING:
  132.                   ?           matches any single character
  133.                   *           matches one or more characters
  134.  
  135.           Any other character must match exactly!  All patterns are
  136.           case insensitive (uppercase = lowercase).
  137.  
  138.           NOTE:
  139.                SEARCH is fully recursive and extends into all
  140.                subdirectories contained in the current directory.
  141.  
  142.                Both search modes examine the information stored inside
  143.                ZIP files.  Now, you will not have to extract files
  144.                to locate what you are looking for!
  145.  
  146. PARENT  - Moves to the directory above the current directory.  Movement
  147.           is toward the root of the disk.  For example, if the current
  148.           directory is DF0:TEST/MANY then pressing PARENT will change
  149.           the current directory to DF0:TEST.  If the contents of a ZIP
  150.           file are being displayed, the PARENT button will exit the ZIP
  151.           file and display the normal DOS directory listing.

  153.           If the current directory does not end in a ':' character
  154.           there will be a / entry in the file listing.  Double clicking
  155.           this entry will also move up one directory level.  Note that
  156.           this entry can not be selected.
  157.  
  158. COMMENT - Toggles the file list display between file or ZIP comments
  159.           and file displays using size, date and time attributes.  An
  160.           example of the file list display with comments is:
  161.

  188. UP      - This button scrolls the file listing up if there are enough
  189.           files in the list to allow scrolling.

  191. DOWN    - This button scrolls the file listing down if there are enough
  192.           files in the list to allow scrolling.

  194. LEFT    - If the DESTINATION box contains an entry, this button 
  195.           transfers the contents of the DESTINATION box to the CURRENT
  196.           DIRECTORY box.
  197.  
  198. RIGHT   - If the CURRENT DIRECTORY contains an entry, this button
  199.           transfers the contents of the CURRENT DIRECTORY box to the
  200.           DESTINATION directory box..
  201.  
  202. S       - This button swaps the contents of the SOURCE and DESTINATION
  203.           boxes if both the SOURCE and DESTINATION boxes have characters
  204.           in them.  If either box is empty, this operation is skipped.
  205.  
  206. H       - HOME moves to the beginning of the list or file.
  207.  
  208. U       - PAGEUP moves the list or file backward by one page.
  209.  
  210. D       - PAGEDOWN moves the list or file forward by one page.
  211.  
  212. E       - END moves to the end of the list or file.

  217. EXTRACT -  This menu contains those options used during file 
  218.            de-compression: 
  219.  
  220.            UNCONDITIONAL    -  All selected files are extracted to the 
  221.                                destination directory.
  222.  
  223.            NEWER FILES ONLY -  Only files which have newer dates than the
  224.                                destination files are extracted.
  225.  
  226.            ASK IF EXISTS    -  If a file already exists in the 
  227.                                destination directory, prompt the user
  228.                                for permission to over-write it.
  229.  
  230.            USE PATHNAMES    -  Extract files using the full pathname
  231.                                and filename.  If the pathname does not 
  232.                                exist, this operation will ask you if you 
  233.                                want to create it.  If you answer YES, the
  234.                                destination directory will be created and
  235.                                the files will be extracted to it.  If you
  236.                                answer NO, the file will be skipped.
  237.  
  238.            USE FILENOTES    -  Writes any filenote assigned to a
  239.                                compressed file to the Amiga DOS filenote 
  240.                                for that file.
  241.  
  242.           NOTE:  Only USE PATHNAMES and USE FILENOTES are saved using 
  243.                                PREFERENCES.
  244.  
  245. COMPRESS - This menu contains those options used during file 
  246.            compression:
  247.  
  248.            UNCONDITIONAL    -  All selected files are compressed and 
  249.                                added to the destination ZIP file.
  250.  
  251.            UPDATE           -  Any selected file which does not exist
  252.                                in the ZIP catalog will be compressed and
  253.                                added to the ZIP file.  Any selected file
  254.                                which exists in the catalog but has a newer 
  255.                                date/time stamp will be re-compressed
  256.                                and added to the ZIP file.
  257.  
  258.            FRESHEN          -  Only selected files which are already in
  259.                                the ZIP catalog and which have newer
  260.                                date/time stamps are re-compressed and
  261.                                stored in the ZIP file.
  262.  
  263.            CHANGE           -  Compresses selected files that are not
  264.                                in the ZIP catalog and which DO NOT have
  265.                                their Archive bit set. Once the file is
  266.                                compressed and placed in the ZIP file,
  267.                                the Archive bit will be set on the file
  268.                                in the file list.
  269.  
  270.            FORCE SHRINKING  -  Forces all files to be compressed using
  271.                                Shrinking.  This is significantly faster
  272.                                than Imploding.
  273.  
  274.            MOVE             -  Delete files after they are compressed 
  275.                                and added to the ZIP file.  This option
  276.                                may be used in conjunction with the
  277.                                previous compression menu selections.
  278.  
  279.            ENCRYPT          -  As files are compressed and added to the
  280.                                ZIP file, they are encoded so they
  281.                                can not be extracted without the proper
  282.                                password.  This function is not active
  283.                                in the intial release.
  284.  
  285.            LONG PATHNAMES   -  Store filenames with the full pathname,
  286.                                less the source drive designation.
  287.  
  288.                                Example: test is the current directory
  289.                                
  290.                                full path: dh0:cfiles/test/program.c
  291.                                
  292.                                "cfiles/test/program.c" would be used as
  293.                                the filename.
  294.       
  295.            SHORT PATHNAMES  -  Store filenames with pathname relative
  296.                                to the current directory.

  302.                                "program.c" would be used as the 
  303.                                filename.

  305.            USE FILENOTES    -  Amiga DOS filenotes for each compressed

  308.           NOTE:  Only LONG or SHORT PATHNAMES and USE FILENOTES are
  309.                                saved using PREFERENCES.

  311. PRINT   - This menu contains options used during printing:
  312.  
  313.           PRT:      - Use the preferences printer
  314.  
  315.           PAR:      - Use the "RAW" parallel printer
  316.  
  317.           SER:      - Use the serial port
  318.  
  319.           ECHO:     - Echo operation results to the printer device.
  320.  
  321.           AUTO FF:  - Issue a form feed between printouts
  322.           
  323. PREFERENCES -  This menu provides selections to change the default
  324.                operation of PKAZIP:
  325.      
  326.           SORT FILE LIST                   
  327.  
  328.                BY NAME      - Sorts the file list alphabetically
  329.                ASCENDING      from A to Z.  Directories are placed
  330.                               at the beginning of the list.
  331.  
  332.                BY NAME      - Sorts the file list alphabetically
  333.                DESCENDING     from Z to A. Directories are placed
  334.                               at the beginning of the list.
  335.  
  336.                BY DATE/TIME - Sorts the file list with the newest
  337.                NEWEST FIRST   files first.  Directories are placed
  338.                               at the beginning of the list.
  339.  
  340.                BY DATE/TIME - Sorts the file list with the oldest
  341.                OLDEST FIRST   files first.  Directories are placed
  342.                               at the beginning of the list.
  343.  
  344.                NONE         - Display files using natural order.
  345.  
  346.           ENABLE FILTERS    - Display filenames which pass the
  347.                               Include and Exclude filters.  
  348.  
  349.           ENABLE SIZING     - Displays the total size of the selected
  350.                               files and directories to make it easy to
  351.                               determine if the selected files and
  352.                               directories fit on the destination drive.
  353.  
  354.                               Filters are active during this command.
  355.  
  356.           DISPLAY             This menu offers two options to show or
  357.                               hide information displayed in the files
  358.                               listing window.  This choice may be saved
  359.                               using the SAVE CHOICES option.
  360.               
  361.                PATHNAMES    - If checked, file pathnames are displayed
  362.                               while viewing the contents of ZIP files.
  363.                               Otherwise, filenames are displayed with
  364.                               without pathnames.  If pathnames are 
  365.                               being suppressed, the filename will be 
  366.                               preceded by a "/" character as a reminder.
  367.  
  368.                ATTRIBUTES   - If checked, file attributes are displayed.
  369.                               Otherwise, file attributes which include
  370.                               time, date, size, comment, etc. are 
  371.                               suppressed.
  372.  
  373.           SAVE CHOICES      - Saves choices from the EXTRACT, COMPRESS,
  374.                               PRINT and PREFERENCE menus.  The contents
  375.                               of the INCLUDE and EXCLUDE filters,
  376.                               PALETTE choices and state of the COMMENT
  377.                               button are also saved.
  378.  
  379.           LOAD CHOICES      - Loads the saved preferences into PKAZIP.
  380.  
  381.           RESET CHOICES     - Reset preferences back to the factory state.
  382.

  384. ABORT - Aborts operations like COPY, DELETE, DISPLAY, PRINT, COMPRESS,
  385.         EXTRACT and TEST.

  406. Assigning PKTEMP: to an alternate drive creates a temporary ZIP file at 
  407. the specified alternate location.  This temporary file is used only in 
  408. the creation of the ZIP file, and will be automatically deleted when the
  409. process is complete.  If you do not assign PKTEMP:, the temporary file
  410. will be created in the T: directory.
  411.  
  412. Double clicking on a directory name will change the current directory
  413. to that directory.  This will display those files found in the new
  414. CURRENT DIRECTORY.
  415.  
  416. Double clicking on a ZIP file will display the list of files that are
  417. contained inside the ZIP file.  Pressing PARENT will return to the
  418. normal AmigaDOS file list.
  419.  
  420. Double clicking on a filename will display that file just as if you
  421. had selected it and pressed the DISPLAY button.  Pressing the right 
  422. mouse button will return the display to the file list.
  423.  
  424. Files are NOT deselected after copying to facilitate moving files from
  425. the Source Directory to the Destination Directory.  Once the files 
  426. are copied, they can be deleted from the source directory because
  427. they are still marked.  If you do not want to delete them, simply
  428. select the CLEAR button to deselect them.
  429.  
  430. Preferences are loaded every time PKAZIP is run.
  431.  
  432. The mouse may also be used to scroll a file in the DISPLAY mode.
  433. Clicking and holding the left mouse button in the top half of the 
  434. display will scroll the file downward while clicking and holding the 
  435. left mouse button in the bottom half of the screen will scroll the 
  436. file upward.
  437.  
  438. The mouse can also be used to control the slider and arrow buttons
  439. in the file display mode.
  440.  
  441. WILDCARDS:  Wildcards are compatible with MS-DOS and UNIX.  The '*' 
  442. references any character and '?' indicates any single character.

  446.           ??.c            any two letter file with a .c extension
  447.       ??now*.c            would match xynowben.c
  448.            *.zip          any filename with a .zip extension
