Stellar War v2.00
SetUp Instructions
Hello all,
Congradulations on starting to use Stellar War v2.10. It is a fairly
complex program, requiring many data files and sub-directories. All of this
can be set up quite easily, however, if the steps provided here are used.
First:
------
Make sure the following directories were created when you unarchived the
Stellar War files:
DOORS:STELLAR/
DOORS:STELLAR/FLAGS
DOORS:STELLAR/DAYS
DOORS:STELLAR/MESSAGES
DOORS:STELLAR/SEND
DOORS:STELLAR/ARMY
DOORS:STELLAR/USER
NOTE: If any of the above directories were not created, just make them by
typing the following at a cli prompt:
MAKEDIR DOORS:STELLAR/(missing directory)
Second:
-------
Make sure the following files exist in the STELLAR/ directory:
CALLDATA
CONFIG
CURRENT
DAYSLEFT.DAT
INSTRUCTIONS
LOG
PLAYERS.DAT
QUESTIONS
STELLAR_0.PRX
RESETME.RX
STORY
WELCOME.TXT
Once all these files are in place, from the cli type:
c:rx doors:stellar/resetme.rx
This will initialize all of the data files for the first time start. If you
don't do this, nothing bad will happen, but you will have my three different
beta test accounts in the game.
From here the program will operate itself, making or adjusting any
necessary files.
That pretty much sums up the file setup procedure of Stellar War. The
gameplay instructions are provided and can be accessed through playing the
game itself. One hint, you can copy over the INSTRUCTIONS file to
DLGConfig:Menu/DOORS/S.Help, then when ever the user hits 'H' for help, they
will be displayed the game instructions.... Well, 'nuff said!
Good luck and have fun!!!

Revison history:
By Robert Lehman, Maxnet 90:51/0
Found the original Author's work in a trashcan, dug it up on some old
paragon disks I had. Tried to contact him but 1. unknown wherabouts, and 2.
no bbs by such name existed anymore. Spent many months hammering at grasping
the infinite knowledge of arexx till I got to the point I could do something
with this helplessly foo-barred script. determined the missing routines were,
( carrier and fighter key words were missing all over the dam place )
cleaned up the sloppy codeing and wrote a reset arexx script for the rest of us
hopelessly confused and overworked sysops. ( just type in rx resetme.rx anytime
you need to reset the game. ) revised numbers from 1.80 to 2.00 to reflect the
massive changes this game has been under by me.
By Bryan Brookey, FIDO Net 1:291/30
Basically took the game and ported it from Paragon/Xenolink to DLG. Made
corrections to a few logic problems. There could still some problems left,
and if there are, please let me know so that I can fix them and pass along
the updates to everyone else! Changed the revision number from 2.00 to 2.10
to reflect the conversion.
