  115. CAPABILITIES OF VOCABULARY POWER:
  116. Word Search size can be varied from 3 to 36 columns and
  117. from 3 to 20 rows.  The activities can be printed in 10,
  118. 12, 15, or 17 pitch.  The pitch depends on your printer
  119. capabilities and the selection in the Settings Menu.  
  120. Up to 200 words will be placed automatically in each
  121. maze.  Word search words and vocabulary bingo words can
  122. be up to 17 characters long.  Clues can be up to 100
  123. characters long.  Words and clues can easily be added,
  124. deleted, printed, randomized, formatted, or changed at
  125. any time.  A variety of activities can be automatically
  126. created and printed from each list of words and clues. 
  127. This option allows teachers to stress the same vocabulary
  128. but use different activities with their students.  This
  129. has been a proven effective method for learning
  130. vocabulary words.

  132. Backups of all files can be made using normal DOS disk
  133. copying procedures or the Back-Up word list selection of
  134. the Options Menu.
  135.  
  136. VOCABULARY POWER (tm) and CROSSWORD POWER (tm) are
  137. trademarks of WISCO COMPUTING.  The computer hardware,
  138. software, and printer names used in this manual are the
  139. trade names and/or trademarks of their respective owners.

  141. VOCABULARY POWER combines entertainment and educational
  142. value.  This program can create a variety of activities
  143. to learn vocabulary.  The activities (word searches,
  144. bingo cards, word jumbles, etc.) can also be created for
  145. parties, games, and study aids.  Businesses and
  146. consultants have used this program for training sessions,
  147. internal newsletters, and advertising promotions. 
  148. Restaurants can use these activities for their place
  149. mats.

  157. REGISTRATION:
  158. Please register this software.  Registration is essential
  159. for you to receive the full benefits of WISCO COMPUTING. 
  160. VOCABULARY POWER registered users receive announcements
  161. about major program improvements.  These announcements
  162. will include a description of the new features, the
  163. reduced upgrade cost, and ordering procedures.  Only
  164. registered users will receive the upgrade notices and be
  165. eligible to purchase the upgrade.

  168. DIRECTIONS FOR COPYING TO THE HARD DISK:
  169. A:  USING WINDOWS
  170.     1. Go to FILE MANAGER
  171.        On the left side of the screen you should see C:\
  172.        with the directories listed under the C:\ symbol.
  173.     2. Place the mouse pointer on the C:\ symbol and
  174.        click once.
  175.        C:\ should now be highlighted.
  176.     3. Click on the File Menu.
  177.     4. Click on Create Directory
  178.        You should see a box Create Directory.
  179.        At Name type C:\WISCO  Click OK.
  180.        If you scroll down the left side of the screen,
  181.        you should see the new directory WISCO
  182.     5. Place the VOCABULARY POWER diskette in drive A:
  183.     6. Click on the A: Drive Icon (under the Title Bar).
  184.        You should see a directory for the files on the
  185.        disk listed.
  186.     7. Click on the File Menu.  A menu will drop down.
  187.     8. Click on Select Files.  A window will appear.
  188.     9. Click on Select.  Lines will appear around the
  189.        file names,
  190.    10. Click on Close.  The file names will appear to be
  191.        colored in.
  192.    11. Click on File.  A menu will drop down.
  193.    12. Click on Copy.  A window will appear.
  194.        In the box following TO: type C:\WISCO
  195.    13. Click OK
  196.    14. Remove the diskette from the disk drive and store
  197.        it in a safe place.

  201. DIRECTIONS FOR COPYING TO THE HARD DISK:
  202. B.  USING DOS:
  203.     1. First Create a Subdirectory named WISCO for the
  204.        program.
  205.        At the DOS prompt, you will see C:\>
  206.        Type MD WISCO and press Enter
  207.     2. Now you will change to the WISCO subdirectory.
  208.        Type CD WISCO and press Enter
  209.        Your DOS prompt now reads C:\WISCO\>
  210.     3. Now you will copy the files from the diskette to
  211.        this subdirectory.
  212.        Place the VOCABULARY POWER diskette in drive A:
  213.        Type COPY  A:*.* and press Enter
  214.        You will see a message when the copying is done.
  215.     4. Remove the diskette from the disk drive and store
  216.        it in a safe place.

  218. DIRECTIONS FOR STARTING VOCABULARY POWER:
  219. A:  FROM WINDOWS:
  220.     1. Go to FILE MANAGER
  221.        On the left side of the screen you should see C:\
  222.        with the directories listed under the C:\ symbol.
  223.     2. If you scroll down the left side of the screen,
  224.        you should see the directory WISCO
  225.        Place the mouse pointer on the WISCO symbol and
  226.        click once.
  227.        WISCO should now be highlighted.
  228.     3. The Vocabulary Power file names will appear on the
  229.        right side of the screen.
  230.     4. Click on the filename BINGO.EXE

  234.     1. If your DOS prompt isn't C:\WISCO\>  type CD\ and
  235.         Enter.
  236.         Your DOS prompt will change to  C:\>
  237.         Then type CD WISCO and press Enter.
  238.     2. Your DOS prompt now reads C:\WISCO\>
  239.     3. Type BINGO and press Enter.

  243. INITIAL SET UP:
  244. 1. When the program is loaded, you will see the copyright
  245.    screen.  Press any key to remove this screen.  The
  246.    menu bar will be displayed at the top of the screen.
  247. 2. Use the right arrow key to move the cursor on (or use
  248.    the mouse and click the left mouse button over) the
  249.    SETTINGS MENU.  A menu will drop down.
  250. 3. Since VOCABULARY POWER is a DOS-based program, it will
  251.    be necessary to select the printer.  Move the cursor
  252.    to Printer Selection and press Enter.  This reveals
  253.    the Printer Selection Menu.
  254. 4. Use the up and down arrow keys to move to your printer
  255.    and press Enter.  The Printer Selection Menu will
  256.    disappear.  If your printer is not listed, it probably
  257.    emulates one of the listed printers.  Check your
  258.    printer manual.  Additional hints are provided in the
  259.    Printer Settings section of this manual.
  260. 5. Move the cursor to Save All Settings, and press Enter.
  261.  
  262. SELECTING MENU ITEMS:
  263. VOCABULARY POWER is specifically designed to be simple to
  264. understand and easy to use.  It requires very little
  265. knowledge of computers.  No commands need to be
  266. memorized.  A status line is displayed at the bottom of
  267. the screen.  The menus allow easy movement through the
  268. program so you can begin making activities in just a few
  269. minutes.
  270.  
  271. To move between the menus at the top of the screen, use
  272. the left or right arrow keys, a mouse, or hold the Alt
  273. key down and press the first letter of the menu.  Within
  274. the vertical menu, use the up or down arrow keys, or
  275. press the first letter of the selection to move from
  276. selection to selection.  Once your selection has been
  277. hi-lighted, press the Enter key to confirm the selection
  278. and continue.  Choices with bullets (or red on a color
  279. monitor) can not be selected until other actions have
  280. been taken.

  289. The Status Line (the bottom line of the display) provides
  290. information about the words used in these activities. 
  291. The first number on the Status Line refers to the
  292. activity number that is displayed.  The next number on
  293. the status line indicates the number of words used in the
  294. activity.  
  295.  
  296. Following the 1: is the name of the first wordlist.  This
  297. wordlist was selected with the File Menu.  This wordlist
  298. is used with all activities.  Following the 2: is the
  299. name of the second wordlist.  This wordlist was selected
  300. with the File Menu.  The second wordlist is only used
  301. with the word search activities.  The second wordlist can
  302. be removed from the word search by using the selection on
  303. the File Menu.  
  304.  
  305. Either From Complete List or From Marked Words is
  306. displayed.  Mark words from the Edit Menu allows you to
  307. control which words from the complete wordlist are used
  308. in an activity.  From Complete List allows all words from
  309. the wordlist to be selected for an activity.
  310.  
  311. Single or Multiple is the last item to be displayed in
  312. the status line.  This setting is made from the
  313. Environment selection of the Settings Menu.  When Single
  314. is displayed, a single activity is displayed.  When an
  315. activity is displayed, a Print Out Menu is also
  316. displayed.  You can print a single copy of the student
  317. activity and/or teacher activity, save an ASCII text
  318. version of the activity to a file, view the unused words,
  319. or display a new activity.  When Multiple is displayed,
  320. you will be asked for the number of different activities
  321. to automatically print.  For example, you could
  322. automatically print 30 different Vocabulary Bingo cards.
  323.  
  324. When an Activity selection is made, and Single is
  325. displayed in the status line, the word list displayed on
  326. the status line (at the bottom of the screen) is loaded
  327. into memory.  The selected activity and a Print Menu are
  328. displayed.

  347. This selection removes all vocabulary words and clues
  348. from the computer's memory.  The word list filename
  349. remains displayed in the status line.
  350.  
  351. LOAD WORDLIST:
  352. This selection is used to open an existing wordlist.  The
  353. name of the wordlist will be displayed after the 1: in
  354. the status line.  A list of all wordlist files (ending
  355. with .WL) are displayed.  Use the up or down arrow keys
  356. or click the left mouse button to select a wordlist. 
  357.  
  358. NAME SECOND WORDLIST:
  359. This selection names a second wordlist to be used with
  360. the word search.  Since each wordlist can have 100 words,
  361. using a second wordlist can allow up to 200 words to be
  362. placed in a word search.  The second wordlist is
  363. displayed after the 2: in the status line.  This wordlist
  364. is only used with the word search activity.
  365.  
  366. REMOVE SECOND WORDLIST:
  367. This selection removes the second wordlist from the word
  368. search activities.  The word NONE will be displayed after
  369. the 2: in the status line.

  373. CREATE WORDLIST:
  374. This selection creates wordlist files that can be used by
  375. VOCABULARY POWER and our companion product CROSSWORD
  376. POWER.  Each word list can have up to 100 vocabulary
  377. words and related clues.  All files created by VOCABULARY
  378. POWER may be copied and erased using normal DOS commands. 
  379. The word lists can also be copied using the Back Up
  380. selection of the Options Menu.  
  381.  
  382. When this selection is made, you will enter the filename
  383. and wordlist title.
  384.  
  385. The filename must be a legal DOS filename.  Avoid using
  386. the & character in a word list name.  The & character is
  387. used in our companion product CROSSWORD POWER.  Word
  388. lists created with VOCABULARY POWER are 100% compatible
  389. for use with CROSSWORD POWER.
  390.  
  391. The wordlist title will be printed above the activity. 
  392. The title can be revised with the Edit Menu selection.
  393.  
  394. Then a display with two columns appears.  Use the Tab key
  395. to move between the columns and the action position at
  396. the bottom used to save your wordlists.
  397.  
  398. ABOUT THE VOCABULARY WORDS (ANSWERS):
  399. Enter your vocabulary words in the left column. 
  400. Vocabulary words may be up to 17 characters long.  Any
  401. character except the space, comma, asterisk *, double
  402. quote ", vertical bar |, and number sign # can be used in
  403. a vocabulary word.  Numbers can also be used to create
  404. math activities.
  405.  
  406. ABOUT THE CLUES (DEFINITIONS):
  407. Enter your definitions in the right column.  Each clue
  408. (definition) can be up to 100 characters long.  Long
  409. clues are automatically divided if necessary.  Any
  410. character except the double quote " and comma can be used
  411. in a clue.

  415. EDITING WORDS AND CLUES:
  416. The Home key places the cursor at the beginning of the
  417. current edit field.  The End key places the cursor at the
  418. end of the current edit field.  Alt-D will delete the
  419. current edit field.  The left and right arrow keys move
  420. the cursor within the edit field.  Ctrl-left and Ctrl-
  421. right arrow keys move the cursor to the far left or right
  422. sides of the window.  The up and down arrow keys move the
  423. cursor between edit fields.
  424.  
  425. The F1 function key displays a foreign language character
  426. and math symbol help screen when entering or adding words
  427. and clues.  These symbols can be included in your
  428. vocabulary words and clues by holding the alternate key
  429. down and entering the 3 digit number on the number pad
  430. (not the top row of the keyboard) of the IBM keyboard.
  431.  
  432. The special characters and symbols can be printed in both
  433. VOCABULARY POWER and CROSSWORD POWER, provided your
  434. printer supports these characters.
  435.  
  436. Most printers support international character sets. 
  437. These character sets are the most commonly supported by
  438. compatible printers.  To add to the confusion, different
  439. manufacturers call the character sets by different names. 
  440. This chart includes the PC-8 characters displayed on the
  441. PC screen.

  466. SAVE FILE:
  467. This selection saves the wordlist you have been working
  468. with.  The name of the active wordlist is displayed after
  469. the 1: in the status line.
  470.  
  471. SAVE AS FILE:
  472. This selection will save an existing wordlist under a new
  473. name.  The original wordlist remains unchanged.  The new
  474. wordlist name you entered will be displayed after the 1:
  475. in the status line.  This wordlist will become the active
  476. wordlist.

  503. This title was entered when the wordlist was created.  It

  508. REVIEW/CHANGE/ADD:
  509. This selection allows you to review, change, and add
  510. words and clues of a wordlist created with the File Menu
  511. selection.  Use the tab key to move between the columns
  512. and the Action Position near the bottom.  When long clues
  513. are displayed, the first part is displayed with a plus
  514. (+) sign to indicate more letters.  Long clues are
  515. automatically wrapped for proper appearance when printed.
  516.  
  517. The F1 function key displays a foreign language character
  518. and math symbol help screen when entering or adding words
  519. and clues.  These symbols can be included in your
  520. vocabulary words and clues by holding the alternate key
  521. down and entering the 3 digit number on the number pad
  522. (not the top row of the keyboard) of the IBM keyboard.

  524. SPELL CHECK:
  525. VOCABULARY POWER includes a 100,000 word (730 KB)
  526. dictionary to check your spelling.  You can also add new

  545. When this menu is displayed, press the letter of your
  546. choice.  The words will be changed, and you will have the
  547. option of saving the changes.

  549. MANIPULATION HINTS:
  550. Words can be changed back and forth between capital and
  551. lower case letters.  It is easier to work with all
  552. capital letters.  However, sometimes lower case letters
  553. are necessary.  For example, in chemistry, CO means
  554. Carbon Monoxide and Co means Cobalt.  This program treats
  555. capital letters and lower case letters as two different
  556. letters.  This means that words will not intersect at a
  557. common letter if one is a capital letter and the other is
  558. lower case letter.
  559.  
  560. Placing the longest words into a word list first does not
  561. guarantee that more total words will be placed into a
  562. word search.
  563.  
  564. Each time a word list is randomized, the order of the
  565. vocabulary words and clues is changed.
  566.  
  567. Teachers can use different activities to stress the same
  568. vocabulary words with different formats.  The different
  569. activities allow for the different learning styles of
  570. students.

  574. MARK WORDS:
  575. Use Mark Words to limit which words are chosen for an
  576. activity.  Activities will only include the Marked words
  577. if Yes is selected for the Environment Setting.  From
  578. Marked Words will be displayed in the status line.

  580. If From Complete List is displayed in the status line,
  581. all words in the wordlist have an equal change of being
  582. selected for an activity (even if they were marked).
  583.  
  584. When this selection is made, the list of words from the
  585. wordlist are displayed.  Use the up and down arrows to
  586. scroll to the words you want to mark.  Press Enter or the
  587. space bar to mark the word.  Pressing Enter or the sapce
  588. bar again will remove the mark.  When you have finished
  589. marking your words, press Escape.  Then you can save the
  590. marked words to a file (extension .PIK).

  592. DELETE WORDS:
  593. When this selection is made, the list of words from the
  594. wordlist are displayed.  Use the up and down arrows to
  595. scroll to the words you want to mark for deletion.  Press
  596. Enter or the space bar to mark the word.  Pressing Enter

  598. have finished marking your words, press Escape.  Only
  599. your unmarked words will be saved to the wordlist file.

  641. When an Activity selection is made, and Multiple is
  642. displayed in the status line, two questions will be
  643. asked.  First you will be asked if you want a teacher
  644. (answer key) printed with each student form.  Then you
  645. will be asked how many copies of the activity you want
  646. printed.  You can automatically print up to 40 different
  647. activities (Word Searches, Vocabulary Bingo cards,
  648. Quizzes, etc.)  when this selection is made.

  651. displayed in the status line, the word list displayed on
  652. the status line (at the bottom of the screen) is loaded
  653. into memory.  The first activity selected and a PRINT
  654. ACTIVITY MENU are displayed.

  676. Student or teacher activity is saved as a text file that
  677. can be imported into most word processors.  The following
  678. pattern is used to name the file:

  680. The first part of the file name uses the same name as the
  681. word list.  The extension part (the three letters after
  682. the period) varies depending on the activity and if it is
  683. the teacher or student copy.  The first letter of the
  684. extension will always be V (for VOCABULARY).  The last
  685. letter will either be a S for STUDENT or T for TEACHER. 
  686. The second letter varies with the activity.
  687.  
  688. The second letter uses the following pattern Word search
  689. = W, Cryptolist = C, Fill in the Blank = F, Juggle word
  690. = J, Juggle With Clues = G, Matching Square = S, Multiple
  691. choice quiz = M, and Matching Quiz = Q For example, the
  692. file HOMONYMS.VCT uses the HOMONYMS.WL word list.  The
  693. file is (C) Cryptolist of the (T) Teachers activity.

  695. The original word lists use the extension .WL  The word
  696. list files are saved as ASCII files to make it easier to
  697. check spelling.

  700. The words are randomized again, then a completely new
  701. activity is displayed and available for printing.

  704. This selection is used to return to the regular pull down

  709. BINGO CARD DETAILS:
  710. Your complete word list must have at least 25 words to
  711. make bingo cards.  If From Marked Words appears in the
  712. status line, at least 25 words must be selected.  If
  713. Single is displayed on the status line, a bingo card is
  714. displayed with the PRINT MENU.  If Multiple is displayed,
  715. you can automatically print up to 40 different Vocabulary
  716. Bingo cards.

  718. Each bingo card fits neatly on a 8 1/2" by 11" piece of
  719. paper.  Environment settings are used to determine if the
  720. Free Space should be printed on the card, and if the card
  721. should expand to fit the full page.  A Printer Setting
  722. (line draw characters) determines the type of lines
  723. surrounding each rectangle of the card.  Calling cards
  724. can be printed by using the Flash Card Selection.
  725.  
  726. CRYPTOLIST DETAILS:
  727. The wordlist is randomized before choosing 20 words.  If
  728. your word list has fewer than 20 words, the entire word
  729. list will be used.  Each letter of the vocabulary word
  730. will be substituted by a different letter.
  731.  
  732. For example, the word CELERY could have been randomized
  733. as RXJXWM.  The letter R was substituted for the letter
  734. C in celery.  The letter X was substituted for the letter
  735. E.  Since there are two E's in CELERY, there are two X's,
  736. at the second and fourth positions in the word.  All
  737. words of this activity uses the same letter substitution. 
  738. If the word PLANE was also on this list, the last letter
  739. would also have to be an X.  A grid is printed at the
  740. bottom of the student paper for help.  The substitution
  741. key is displayed on the screen and printed on the teacher
  742. key.  Additional cryptolists use a different group of 20
  743. words and a different letter substitution method.

  745. FILL-IN-THE-BLANK DETAILS:
  746. Word lists are randomized before choosing up to 25 words. 
  747. If the word list has fewer words, the entire word list
  748. will be used.   Clues for these 25 words will be

  763. words and clues on regular 8 1/2" by 11" paper or 3" by
  764. 5" cards.  The words and clues may be printed on the same
  765. or opposite sides of the paper.  When printed on opposite
  766. sides of the paper, you will have to turn the paper over
  767. to print the back side.

  770. paper in the printer.

  772. JUGGLE WORDS DETAILS:
  773. The word list is randomized before choosing 20 words.  If
  774. your word list has fewer than 20 words, the entire word

  776. will be randomized.  Each additional juggle word activity
  777. that is displayed and printed uses 20 different words and
  778. a different letter randomization.

  838. WORD SEARCH DETAILS:
  839. The Word Search size is selected on the SETTINGS MENU. 
  840. The maze size can be varied from 3 to 36 columns and from
  841. 3 to 20 rows.  The words from a second wordlist can also
  842. be added to the word search.  The second wordlist was
  843. selected with the File menu and displayed in the status
  844. line.  Up to 200 words will be placed automatically in
  845. each maze.  A random spot is chosen for the first word to
  846. be placed into the maze.  Then other words will attempt
  847. to intersect the first word.  When no more word
  848. placements can be made, the PRINT MENU is displayed. 
  849. Words can be arranged forwards, backwards, horizontal,
  850. vertical, and diagonally.  Backwards spelled words can be

  903. Words are arranged horizontal, vertical, and diagonally.
  904. If Y for Yes is selected the word search words will also

  907. AUTOMATICALLY CAPITALIZE PUZZLE LETTERS:
  908. For letters to intersect in the word search, they must be
  909. identical.  All letters of the words must be either all
  910. lower or upper case.  To quickly change the case of the
  911. words, use the manipulate selection on the Edit Menu.

  913. PRINT FREE SPACE ON BINGO CARDS:
  914. If Y for Yes is selected, a Free Space will be printed on

  938. There is no limit on the number of words that can be
  939. placed in a word search.  Up to 25 clues can be

  942. words can be randomized for the other activities.  If
  943. your word list has fewer words, all words will be used.

  1045. WORD SEARCH AND ACTIVITY PITCH:
  1046. Select a printer pitch supported by your printer. 
  1047. VOCABULARY POWER supports 10, 12, 15, and 17 pitch.  Ten
  1048. pitch refers to 10 characters per inch.  The larger the
  1049. pitch number, the more characters are printed per inch. 
  1050. VOCABULARY POWER automatically sets the point size for
  1051. the LaserJet and DeskJet printers based on the pitch
  1052. setting.  Some DeskJet and LaserJet printers require a
  1053. memory cartridge to support 12 pitch printing.  Only the 
  1054. LaserJet using scalable fonts (CG Times and Univers) 
  1055. supports 8 pitch (word search maximum 30 columns).
  1056.  
  1057. ACTIVITY LINES PER INCH:
  1058. Normal spacing is 6 lines per inch.  Changing to 8 lines
  1059. per inch may prevent the activity from printing on more
  1060. than one page.  Only the LaserJet using scalable fonts
  1061. (CG Times and Univers) supports 4 and 5 lines per inch.
  1062.  
  1063. SET PRINTER TO LETTER QUALITY (BOLD):
  1064. Depending on the printer, the activities may be printed
  1065. in either draft of letter quality mode.  Draft mode will
  1066. be used if either this setting is set to NO or font
  1067. number 9 (draft) is chosen for the Epson LQ or IBM
  1068. Proprinter X24E printers.
  1069.  
  1070. IGNORE PRINTER STATUS <Yes or No>:
  1071. VOCABULARY POWER checks the status of the parallel
  1072. printer port before sending any data.  This normally
  1073. works quite well.  However, if you have a non-standard,
  1074. or very fast computer, you may experience problems. 
  1075. VOCABULARY POWER might actually think that your printer
  1076. port (LPT1:) is busy when you know it is not.  If you
  1077. have printer problems like this, select Y for Yes to
  1078. ignore the printer status.
  1079.  
  1080. LPT PRINTER PORT: 
  1081. This Number indicates where the selected printer is
  1082. connected to your computer.  Most printers are connected
  1083. to port (LPT1:).  If you have additional parallel printer
  1084. ports, you may use printer port 2 or 3.
  1085.  
  1086. BOX DRAWING CHARACTERS:
  1087. If your printer prints foreign language characters around
  1088. the squares on the BINGO cards, this should be set to NO. 
  1089. Then dashes and plus signs will be substituted for the
  1090. BOX characters.

  1094. PRINT EXTRA SPACE:
  1095. This setting allows an extra space between the heading
  1096. and body of the activity.  If the multiple choice and
  1097. matching quiz prints on two pages, set to NO.  Extra
  1098. space can also be included between the Multiple Choice
  1099. questions.
  1100.  
  1101. HP LASERJET TYPEFACE NUMBER:
  1102. Typeface refers to the unique design of the characters. 
  1103. The following typefaces were included with the LaserJet
  1104. III: 0=LinePrinter, 3=Courier, 5=CG Times, and
  1105. 52=Univers.
  1106.  
  1107. SELECTING HP LASERJET AND DESKJET FONTS:
  1108. Internal fonts are fonts built into the printers.  Most
  1109. DeskJets and all LaserJets before the LaserJet III had
  1110. only a few Courier and 16.66 (condensed pitch)
  1111. lineprinter internal fonts.  This was also true of almost
  1112. all LaserJet compatibles until quite recently.  The
  1113. LaserJet III also included a 12 pitch Courier and two
  1114. scalable fonts (CG Times and Univers).  The scalable
  1115. fonts can be used with the LaserJet III/4 printer.  The
  1116. scalable point size will be determined by the pitch
  1117. selected to print the activity.  Soft fonts may be
  1118. transferred (downloaded) to these early model printers
  1119. prior to printing the activities. If your compatible
  1120. printer can not support the PC-8 symbol set, set the box
  1121. drawing selection on the Printer Settings Menu to NO.
  1122.  
  1123. EPSONLQ & IBM PROPRINTER X24E FONTS:
  1124. Bold must also be set to YES to print these fonts.  The
  1125. following EpsonLQ, IBM Proprinter X24E, and Panasonic KX-
  1126. P2123 fonts are supported:

  1151. codes to the printer.  The first selection RESETS the
  1152. printer to the top of the page to the current paper
  1153. position in the printer.  If you have manually adjusted
  1154. the paper position in the printer, use this selection so
  1155. the program and printer properly communicate.

  1157. ADVANCE PAPER advances the paper in the printer one line. 
  1158. FORM FEED ejects the current page in the printer.

  1160. DELETE A WORD LIST:
  1161. This selection erases an entire wordlist file.  To delete
  1162. selected words from a wordlist, used the Delete Words
  1163. selection on the Edit Menu.  When this selection on this
  1164. menu is made, the word list names will be displayed. 
  1165. Move the cursor to highlight the word list file to be
  1166. deleted.  Then press Enter. The wordlist will be erased. 
  1167. Press Escape to leave this selection.

  1169. BACK UP WORD LIST FILES:
  1170. When this selection is made, you will be asked to enter
  1171. the name of the drive to receive the copies of the word
  1172. lists.  If an acceptable drive letter and optional
  1173. subdirectory is entered, all word lists will be copied to
  1174. the destination you entered.
  1175.  
  1176. REVISE FILE INSTRUCTIONS:
  1177. Instructions stored in a file can replace the
  1178. instructions that are normally printed.  This allows
  1179. substitution of foreign language or alternative
  1180. instructions.  For example, in the word search, the word
  1181. diagonal could be replaced with the word angle.  The
  1182. Environment Settings Selection of the SETTINGS MENU must
  1183. be set to use these alternative instructions.
