  1.              ------ Stamp Pad Icon ------

  3. The icon for Stamp Pad will not install in Windows
  4. automatically with the install program.  This is because
  5. Stamp Pad is a DOS program (even though it will run
  6. in Windows).
  7.  
  8. Stamp Pad has an icon in the subdirectory where the
  9. program is located.  If you want to change the icon to
  10. a more attractive one, follow the directions below.
  11.  
  12. To change the Stamp Pad icon:
  13.  
  14. 1.  While in the Program Manager, select the icon that is
  15.     currently used for Stamp Pad. 
  16. 2.  From the File menu, select Properties. 
  17. 3.  In the Program Item Properties dialog box, choose the
  18.     Change Icon button.
  19. 4.  Press OK when the message box appears stating that
  20.     there are no available icons for the specified file.
  21.     This message is irrelevant.
  22. 4.  Instead of selecting an icon from the ones shown, in
  23.     the File Name box, type the file name below and then
  24.     press ENTER:

  26.     c:\dw_share\stamp\stamp.ico

  28. 5.  In the Program Item Properties dialog box, choose
  29.     the OK button.
  30.  
  31. NOTE:  If you are a new computer user and are unable to
  32. understand the above instructions, just use the icons that
  33. are already there.  Changing the icons is for appearance
  34. only, they do not affect the program.

  36.          ------ Program Performance ------

  38. Stamp Pad will run in Windows if you have enough
  39. memory available.  If you find that it performs poorly
  40. while running it in Windows, then you do not have
  41. enough memory available.  For better performance, exit
  42. Windows and run it in DOS.  Do not select the MS-DOS
  43. Prompt icon in Windows but rather exit Windows completely.
  44. You need 512K of conventional memory available to run
  45. Stamp Pad.  Your DOS manual has information about
  46. memory management.

  48.          ------ No Mouse Found ------
  49.  
  50. If you get the error message "No mouse found" while
  51. trying to load Stamp Pad, that means that your mouse
  52. driver is not loaded.  Stamp Pad requires a mouse.
  53. Even though your mouse may be working in Windows, your
  54. mouse driver may not be loaded because DOS does not load
  55. it automatically unless you have your autoexec.bat file
  56. doing so.  To install your mouse driver, exit Windows and
  57. change to the directory (usually c:\mouse or c:\windows)
  58. that has your mouse driver (usually mouse.com or mouse.sys)
  59. and run that file (type MOUSE).  If you are successful, a
  60. message will be displayed that will state that your mouse
  61. driver has been installed.  The manual that came with your
  62. mouse has additional information.  Your DOS manual has
  63. information about loading your mouse automatically in
  64. DOS.  Check the section in your DOS manual about including
  65. files in your autoexec.bat file.
