allows up to eight colors and six positions.
Please specify "Mind Game" and include your address.
To play Mind Game, your PC must have Windows 3.1, a mouse, and a
VGA color monitor.
To Install Mind Game:
Use standard Windows setup to create a Mind Game program item.
The executable file is MindWin.EXE
To Play:
Double Click on the Mind Game Icon. The initial board is displayed.
In the initial mode, you the player are solving the computer's
hidden code.
The hidden code is a series of four colored balls; there may be more
than one of a color.
Click on one of the stacks of colored balls to select a ball in the code.
To "take back" a move, click on the ball on the board to remove that
ball from your guess. The current position in your code guess is
highlighted.
When you have filled in the code with four colored balls, click on the
OK button to tell the computer you are done. The computer will tell
you how close your guess was by displaying pegs in the small box to
the right of your guess.
Each black peg signifies a ball of the correct color in the correct position.
Each white peg signifies a ball of the correct color in the wrong position.
You should steadily gain information to solve the code.
Mind Game is primarily a solitare game, but can be played against an
opponent in the following way:
Player 1 solves three (or any number) of codes
Note the average score for the games
Click on the Reset Scores button
Player 2 solves the same number of codes
Lowest average score wins
In the alternate mode, the computer solves your code. To select the alternate
mode, choose menu item "Play Options" and then "Computer solves your code".
In this mode, you first create a four position code for the computer to solve.
Create the code by clicking on the stacks of colored balls, similarly to the
procedure for guessing a code. Click on OK when your code is set (all four positions
are filled).
The computer will guess your code. Click on the black and white pegs (one black
peg for each correct color in correct position; one white peg for correct color in
wrong position) and press OK. The computer will proceed with the next guess.
See if you can beat the computer's average score.
