  15. "Two Handed Spades!?!" Yep, Two Handed Spades. The dealing is a bit 
  16. different, but other than that the game is pretty much the same as it's four
  17. handed brethren. Of course, there are no partners. It is just one-on-one; a
  18. two handed battle; human verses machine; a duel to the death; you against
  19. the world...anyway, you get the idea.

  21. I personally find this style more challenging. However, if you should not
  22. find the challenge enough for you, simply call up a friend and play over
  23. a modem. Two Handed Spades supports modem play and null-modem cable play.

  25. Two Handed Spades is shareware. That is to say, it's not free. Shareware
  26. is a means of marketing software for those of us who don't have a crack
  27. marketing department with a huge budget.

  29. The basic premise is that you get to try out the software before you buy it. 
  30. Once you've tried the product, and decided it is worth the meager fee the 
  31. starving computer programmer is asking, you send the starving computer 
  32. programmer money and he sends you the latest, greatest version of the 
  33. software. This process is known as Shareware Registration. 
  34.  
  35. Once said starving programmer has received your registration fee, the
  36. starving programmer will send you a disk with the latest and greatest
  37. version of Two Handed Spades, along with a personalized registration
  38. confirmation letter and other goodies.
  39.  
  40. In this case the latest and greatest version has some of the annoying aspects
  41. of the shareware version taken out. Such as, the logo screen does 
  42. not appear in-between ever game you play, the game loads much faster than 
  43. the shareware version, and you get a free game (goodies) when you register.

  47. The registration price is $14.50, plus $2.50 for shipping. You can either 
  48. send a check or money order through the mail or use CompuServe's Software 
  49. Registration forum (GO SWREG) and use SWREG ID# 8966. For complete details 
  50. on registering your copy of Two Handed Spades read the Q & A section in 
  51. the help file.

  53. If you send your registration through the mail you can fill out and print
  54. an order form by clicking on the Order Form button when the game first 
  55. starts or by selecting Order Form from the Help menu.

  58. 2) Installation
  59.  
  60. Aside from the ZIP file 2HSPAD.ZIP you will need one other file to
  61. successfully install and run Two Handed Spades. You will need:
  62.  
  63.     VBRUN300.DLL
  64.  
  65. VBRUN300.DLL is the run-time module needed to run all programs written in
  66. the language Visual Basic. VBRUN300.DLL can be found on all on-line 
  67. services. It is usually stored as VBRUN3.ZIP. Once you have VBRUN300.DLL put 
  68. this file in your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.

  70. Installation couldn't be easier. Simply create a new directory and put all  
  71. the files from 2HSPAD.ZIP into the directory. If you want to add a Program
  72. Group and Icons (Windows 3.1) or add a Program Folder (Windows 95) you
  73. can run SETUP.EXE. If you chose not to run the setup program you can
  74. start the game by double clicking on the file 2HSPADE.EXE.

  98. The file MODEM.TXT has a partial listing of modem commands that are common
  99. to most modems. Should you have any problems connecting with another
  100. computer over a modem consult this list or the documentation that was
  101. supplied with your modem.
