WELCOME! to DAMMIT! Solitaire:
OBJECTIVE:
The objective of Dammit! (also known as King's Corner Solitaire) is
to arrange all of the face cards around the outer edge of a four by four
grid, such that the Kings are in the four corners, the Queens are in the
upper and lower middle boxes, and the Jacks are in the left and right
middle boxes. Dammit is an addictive, yet very difficult solitaire
variation, you will quickly discover how it was named.

PLAY:
Card Placement:
Game begins with an empty grid of 16 boxes. The cards are shuffled,
and the top card is displayed. Any card other than a face card may be
played in any box presently unoccupied. Face cards may only be played in
their respective locations (ie. Kings in the four corners etc.). To play
a card the player must use the mouse to drag(*) the card from its location
to the box chosen, and release it. Play continues as each successive card
is revealed and then played.
Card Removal:
When the entire grid is filled with cards, no more cards may be
revealed. At this point the player must remove any tens that are on the
board by dragging them to the discard pile. The player must also remove
any two card combinations whose face values add up to ten (ie. ace -
nine, two - eight, etc.). No additional cards may be played until all
valid combinations have been removed.
After all possible cards have been removed to the discard pile, a
new card will be revealed and play returns to the card placement phase.
(*) Dragging is accomplished by holding down the left mouse button while
moving the mouse across the screen.
GAME OVER:
Winning:
The game is won when all the cards have been played, and the face
cards have been placed in their respective boxes.
Losing:
There are two ways to lose, the first is when a face card is
uncovered, and there are no valid places for that kind of face card (ie.
a king is displayed, and the four corners are all occupied). The second
is when all the grid boxes are filled and there are no tens, or
combinations which may be removed, thus making it impossible to ever
draw a new card.
GAME CONTROLS:
The menu controls are activated by pressing any keyboard key during
game play. At this point a menu bar will appear directly under the title
bar, displaying the menu options available. Game play is suspended while
the menu is displayed, game play may be resumed after any choice has
been selected and viewed, or after selecting the Game menu and Resume
Play.
Game Menu:
Restart Game: This option allows the player to begin a new game,
thus discarding the present game.
Resume Game: This option allows the player to go back and finish
the present game at the point it was interrupted.
Exit Game: This options allows the player to abort the present
game, and to exit Dammit and return to the Windows
environment.

STRATEGY:
Although much of Dammit is based on chance, and the luck of the
player, there are a few tips that may enhance chances of winning. First,
always fill up the middle boxes first with non-face cards, this leaves
the available face card boxes open as long as possible. Second, play the
odds, when choosing which face card boxes to fill with non-face cards,
pay attention to the number of each type of face card that have been
played. Those with less played have a greater chance of being drawn from
the deck. Each player must develop their own style, and sometimes
playing a hunch, instead of the odds may pay off. Good Luck!
