  22. ----- 1. Introduction -----
  23. NFL Forecaster and NFL Calendar are copyrighted shareware
  24. products; they are not freeware or public domain software.
  25. You can try them before you buy them and you are
  26. encouraged to give copies to others.  If you use them after
  27. 30 days, you must register them.

  29. The unregistered versions of NFL Forecaster for Windows
  30. and NFL Calendar for Windows 95 are identical to the
  31. registered versions EXCEPT that the functions for preparing
  32. for a new NFL season (creating a new schedule, for example)
  33. will not save data to disk.  You can, however, use them to
  34. see how they work. It's only fair that you cannot use the
  35. unregistered versions of the programs for more than one NFL
  36. season without registering them.

  44. ----- 2. NFL Forecaster 5.0 for Windows 95 -----
  45. To predict the winners of football games, you must rank the
  46. opposing teams.  Many elements may be taken into account,
  47. but only two things really matter: (1) a team's win/loss
  48. record which depends upon (2) the number of points scored by
  49. and against that team. USING ONLY SCORES, NFL Forecaster
  50. assigns each NFL team rankings, and uses them to predict
  51. winners and point spreads.  It only takes 10 minutes a week
  52. to enter the scores and obtain
  53. forecasts!

  55. Over the previous 13 seasons, Forecaster declared only 10%
  56. of all games too close to call (even).  It attempts to make
  57. a forecast for every game, not just "5-star specials" or
  58. "this week's picks." Of the 2,625 games it predicted
  59. winners for, it was correct 63% of the time and it
  60. correctly predicted the spread 58% of the times. For the
  61. 1991-92 season Forecaster hit 70% for winners and 66% for
  62. spreads.

  64. NFL Forecaster guides you step-by-step through the process
  65. of entering scores, forecasting spreads, saving data,
  66. viewing rankings and printing reports from the first game
  67. of the season through the Super Bowl.  Forecaster is highly
  68. configurable and you can: open 6 different view windows;
  69. print 7 reports; print or view the NFL schedule; sort the
  70. rankings 8 ways; use team or city names. The registered
  71. version includes functions for preparing for a new season
  72. (creating a new schedule, for example).

  74. NFL Forecaster for Windows 95 is a completely rewritten
  75. version of NFL Forecaster for Windows 3.0/3.1  The
  76. prediction algorithm has been improved.  Further, it
  77. is substantially easier to use: for example, new editing
  78. capabilities make it much easier to prevent and correct
  79. errors while entering scores and creating a new schedule.
  80. And an improved category rankings view enables you to
  81. highlight two teams to easily compare them in all eight
  82. categories.  Users of earlier versions of NFL Forecaster
  83. should take a look at the Windows 95 version!

  85. NFL Calendar (see below) is included FREE with NFL
  86. Forecaster for Windows 95.

  89. ----- 3. NFL Calendar 1.0 for Windows 95 -----
  90. NFL Calendar for Windows 95 is a perpetual desktop calendar
  91. that includes the current NFL schedule.  Double-click on
  92. any day marked as an NFL game day and the schedule for that
  93. day pops up.  You can also view and print the entire
  94. schedule or an individual team's schedule using city or
  95. team names.  The registered version includes a function for
  96. creating a new schedule.

  98. NFL Calendar for Windows 95 is included at no extra charge
  99. NFL Forecaster for Windows 95.  It may also be ordered
  100. separately.

  105. --- INSTALLING  More information about installing and
  106. uninstalling Forecaster and NFL Calendar is contained
  107. in the file INSTALL.TXT which you can read when you run
  108. the setup program (or with any word processor or editor).

  110. The setup program installs both NFL Forecaster and NFL
  111. Calendar.  Files are installed only in the NFL Forecaster
  112. directory (the default directory is 
  113. Program Files\Cotton\NFL), except for a single file,
  114. UNINST.EXE, which is placed in the Windows directory.
  115. UNINST.EXE is used to uninstall (see below) NFL Forecaster
  116. and NFL Calendar and other companies' products.  The setup
  117. program does not make any changes to the config.sys or
  118. autoexec.bat files.

  121. --- UNINSTALLING  More information about installing and
  122. uninstalling Forecaster and NFL Calendar is contained
  123. in the file INSTALL.TXT which you can read when you run
  124. the setup program (or with any word processor or editor).

  126. The uninstall program removes NFL Forecaster and NFL
  127. Calendar.  It removes all files and Registry entries that
  128. were installed by the installation program (except for the
  129. uninstallation program itself; see above). It does not
  130. (cannot) remove files that were placed in the Forecaster
  131. directory after installation.

  134. Forecaster for Windows" contains step-by-step instructions
  135. for removing NFL Forecaster and NFL Calendar from your
  136. computer system.
