  28. INSTALLING ANARCHY!
  29. ------------------
  30. Installing Anarchy! is easy, but the specific process will vary depending
  31. on how you received your copy of Anarchy!. Two examples are given below. The
  32. first is for copying from a floppy disk or CD-ROM. The second is for a ZIP
  33. file downloaded from a bulletin board system (BBS).

  36. From a diskette or CD-ROM:
  37. --------------------------
  38. First, create a directory for the Anarchy! files:
  39.  
  40. Using the MS-DOS Prompt        Using File Manager

  42. Type MD\ANARCHY            Click on the root directory (C:\)
  43. Press [Enter]            Click on File
  44.                 Click on Create Directory
  45.                 Type Anarchy

  48. Next, copy the Anarchy! files to the newly created directory.

  52. C: [ENTER]            Make sure you have two windows visible in File
  53. CD\ANARCHY [ENTER]           Manager. If not, click on Window, then
  54. COPY A:\*.* C: [ENTER]           New Window.
  55.                 In one window, click on the ANARCHY directory
  56. (This is an example of           you just created.
  57. copying from a diskette.    In the other window, click on the drive
  58. For a CD-ROM, substitute       and then the directory where the Anarchy!

  67.                    can now "drag" the files to the ANARCHY
  68.                    directory in the other window by moving
  69.                    the mouse cursor to the ANARCHY directory.
  70.                 Once the mouse cursor is over the ANARCHY
  71.                    directory, release the mouse button. This
  72.                    will copy all the highlighted files to the
  73.                    ANARCHY directory.

  75. Finally, install the Anarchy! icon on your Program Manager display.

  79. Using either keyboard or    In File Manager, click on ANARCHY.EXE in the 
  80. mouse, switch to the program       ANARCHY directory. DO NOT RELEASE THE MOUSE
  81. group you want to install       button. "Drag" the mouse cursor to the
  82. Anarchy! in (usually "GAMES"),       Program Manager program group you want to
  83. then click on:               install Anarchy! in (usually "GAMES"), then

  97. From a ZIP'd file:

  99. For the novice user, it's easiest to "unzip" and install Anarchy! from the
  100. MS-DOS prompt (if you are an experienced user, you probably aren't reading
  101. these instructions, anyway, so we're going to ignore you for the time being).
  102. Please note that un-Zipping a file requires a copy of PKUNZIP.EXE, which is
  103. available on virtually all bulletin boards and online services such as Genie
  104. and CompuServe.
  105.  
  106. First, create a directory for the Anarchy! files. At the MS-DOS prompt, type
  107. "MD\ANARCHY" (without the quote marks), and press [Enter]. Next, switch to
  108. this new ANARCHY directory by typing "CD\ANARCHY" and pressing [Enter].
  109.  
  110. Next, unzip ANARCHY.ZIP into the newly created directory. As an example, if
  111. the ANARCHY.ZIP file is in the directory C:\DOWNLOAD, then type:
  112.  
  113.    PKUNZIP C:\DOWNLOAD\ANARCHY.ZIP
  114.  
  115. Assuming you are in ANARCHY directory, all the Anarchy! files will be unzipped
  116. there (If that's not where you are, no telling where they will end up. Make
  117. sure you type CD\ANARCHY before this step).

  119. (By the way, once you have unzipped Anarchy! you can delete the ANARCHY.ZIP
  120. file if you want. You won't be needing it anymore.)
  121.  
  122. Now that the Anarchy! files are properly located on your computer, all you
  123. need to do is install the Anarchy! icon on your Program Manager display.
  124. Return to Windows and:

  145. ABOUT VBRUN300.DLL
  146. ------------------
  147. All MS Visual Basic 3.0 programs require the use of a library file called
  148. VBRUN300.DLL. This includes Anarchy!. Depending on how you received this
  149. copy of Anarchy! you may or may not have received VBRUN300.DLL.
  150.  
  151. *** Note that Windows 95 comes with VBRUN300.DLL already installed ***
  152.  
  153. If you DID receive VBRUN300.DLL with Anarchy!:
  154. ---------------------------------------------
  155. You may not need it. Check your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory to see if a copy
  156. is already there. If so, then you can delete the copy that came with Anarchy!.
  157. If not, you need VBRUN300.DLL either in that directory or in the ANARCHY
  158. directory. We recommend that you place it in the WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory
  159. so that all programs can share it, thus meaning you only need one copy on
  160. your computer.

  162. If you DID NOT receive VBRUN300.DLL with Anarchy!:
  163. -------------------------------------------------
  164. You may not need it. Check your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory to see if a copy
  165. is already there. If so, then you are set -- you don't need another copy.
  166. On the other hand, if there is NOT a copy already on your system then
  167. you need to get a copy (by the way, we apologize for not including it, but
  168. most BBS's and information services prefer that we don't. Otherwise,
  169. there would be thousands of duplicate copies of this file included with
  170. other programs, taking up disk space better used for other things). Like
  171. PKUNZIP, copies are available free on most BBS's and information services
  172. like CompuServe and Genie. If you got Anarchy! off a CD-ROM, there is probably
  173. a copy available somewhere on that CD.

  176. REGISTERING ANARCHY!
  177. -------------------
  178. Shareware is a means of distributing software. Under the shareware concept,
  179. software may be freely copied and passed along to others, or distributed
  180. through bulletin board systems or national networks.
  181.  
  182. As a recipient of a shareware program, you may use the software for a short
  183. trial period to determine if it meets your needs. If the software is not
  184. suitable, then you can discard it. If you decide to use it, you must pay by
  185. registering. When you register a Cascoly shareware program, you receive:

  189.     * A puzzle builder
  190.     * Reduced prices on other Cascoly puzzle programs.
  191.     * A free introductory account on CompuServe including a private User

  198. For a registration form, click on "Display Order Form" on the Registration
  199. Information Screen.

  202. WINDOWS 95
  203. ----------
  204.  
  205. Version 2.00 of Anarchy was developed and tested under Windows 95, so you
  206. should experience no compatability problems. Please note the following
  207. changes to the above instructions:
  208.  
  209. - Instead of File Manager, under Windows 95 you may wish to use Windows
  210.   Explorer (We prefer File Manager!). Since Explorer doesn't let you open
  211.   two Windows at once, though, you will have to run two copies of Explorer
  212.   at once.

  214. - Instead of Program Manager, you will be installing Anarchy on to the
  215.   Task Bar. Click on Start, then Settings, then Task Bar, then Start
  216.   Menu Programs to do this.

  218. - Windows 95 comes with VBRUN300.DLL already installed, so you won't need
  219.   another copy for Anarchy.
