As mentioned, a SYS to a location containing zero will work. Jim
Butterfield used SYS1024 in his "Tinymon1" article, entering the VIC
monitor with the PET's monitor.

Which ROM version does it have? I am not too familiar with the various
PETs, but I know from an old 1983 article that PETs with Upgrade or 4.0
ROMs had pretty much the same I/O KERNAL jumps.

Perhaps you could wire a switch and resistor to the ground and reset pins
of the processor (6502?).

Probably not; if I recall, all PETs had fairly primitive monitors.
