I remember your message, but it didn't concern me at the time. :)
Visiting my parents for the weekend and getting some hot meals (yes!), I
dug up my pinouts for the VIC and 64:
VIC-20 audio/video pinout
------------- where...
{$7d} {$7d}
{$7d} {$7d} pin 1 = +5V (!!!)
{$7d} 3 1 {$7d} pin 2 = GND
{$7d} 5 4 {$7d} pin 3 = audio out
{$7d} 2 {$7d} pin 4 = video low
{$7d} {$7d} pin 5 = video high
-------------
C64 audio/video pinout
------------- where...
{$7d} {$7d}
{$7d} {$7d} pin 1 = luma
{$7d} 3 1 {$7d} pin 2 = gnd
{$7d} 5 4 {$7d} pin 3 = audio out
{$7d} 2 {$7d} pin 4 = chroma
{$7d} {$7d} pin 5 = audio in
-------------
(I normally can't do ASCII art -- I know the connectors aren't square,
but I'm no ASCII artist.)
Especially after looking at the different uses of pin 1, perhaps it's not
a good idea after all to use a 1701/2 cable on a VIC...! I'd definitely
now suggest building a composite-color cable, unless there was a cable to
connect a VIC to 64 monitors.
BTW, what can the 64's pin 5, audio in, be used for?
