BOB was a respected, friendly¢ and hard working OL' HACKER, and he¢ will be missed. We took a minute of¢ silence to pray for BOB and wished him¢ well on his journey. This issue of the¢ newsletter is dedicated to BOB's¢ memory.¢¢ CORRESPONDENCE:¢¢ ALEX received a letter from JOE¢ HICSWA thanking us for hosting the¢ NEAR*US meeting. He also enclosed an¢ article he wrote about the meeting for¢ the newsletter. ALEX responded with¢ thanks for the article and also sent a¢ few disks along.¢ We also received a nice thank you¢ letter from JON MORDOSKY, Chairman of¢ the REVITALIZED NEAR*US committee.¢ JEAN BROKAW, who is the editor of¢ the PACE-SETTER newsletter, sent a¢ letter to ALEX thanking him for the¢ many programs he sent her. ALEX¢ replied and thanked her for the¢ utility disk she sent.¢ ALEX wrote a letter to JANET¢ BLOCKER of the ALAMO AREA ATARI USER¢ ASSOCIATION (AAAUA) acknowledging the¢ Disk of the Month swap. He also sent¢ her an updated version of Micro-¢ check.¢ ALEX sent a letter to TOM ANDREWS¢ along with a check for $12.00 for his¢ shareware program, PRINT STAR. The¢ check represented $4.00 from ALEX,¢ $4.00 from RON, and $4.00 from OHAUG.¢ ALEX also encouraged members who are¢ using his program to register it, and¢ if possible contribute the $4.00 he¢ requested..¢ ALEX wrote to CURT VENDELL to¢ advise him of the NEAR*US meeting and¢ also the regular monthly meeting, and¢ has received no response to date.¢ A letter from VALERIO CORAZZIN in¢ ITALY had a slew of questions for¢ ALEX. ALEX sent a back a letter,¢ answering as many questions as he¢ could.¢ ALEX sent a letter to CLAY¢ HALLIWELL along with aN OHAUG¢ shareware donation OF $5.00, for his¢ many FINE PROGRAMS.¢ JEAN BROKAW sent another letter¢ thanking us for the Print Shop¢ utilities and programs ALEX sent her.¢ ALEX wrote to DAVID OLDFIELD OUR¢ CONNECTICUT MEMBER, and thanked him¢ for a listing he gave us at the¢ NEAR*US meeting. He also sent some¢ disks of games and utilities. THANKS¢ DAVE¢ ALEX sent a note to BOB SCHOLAR¢ of the SLCC commending him on a good¢ newsletter and enclosed some disks of¢ demos and utilities, THAT HE COULD USE¢ FOR FUTURE S.L.C.C. DOM's.¢¢¢ DEMOS:¢¢ ALAN SHARKIS showed off a ton of¢ demos. Among them were the INTEL¢ OUTSIDE demo from POLAND, THE BITTER¢ REALITY DEMO, and another called¢ SIMPLE MINDS. All of them had great¢ graphics and fabulous music from¢ various games.¢ ALAN also showed some other¢ programs. VIDEO POKER is joystick¢ controlled and has a very colorful¢ display with some excellent graphics.¢ SUPER BOOT allows compaction functions¢ similar to Diskcomm as well as basic¢ DOS routines. This disk will be given¢ a number at a future meeting.¢ ALAN finished up with a demo¢ called SWEET ILLUSIONS. The disk is in¢ Double Density and has some stunning¢ graphics and music. These disks were¢ supplied to ALAN by our member from¢ California, NIR DARY. The disk has a¢ text adventure, Printshop Envelope¢ Maker, morse code program, game,¢ Planet Orbit, plotting program, and¢ Atarilab utilities as well as other¢ various programs. Library Disk #550.¢ Next we saw T.W.A.U.G. #14 March¢ 1995. Side one is Single density while¢ side two is Enhanced Density. This¢ disk has a lot of music programs as¢ well as a lottery program, dominoes,¢ and a directory printer. Also on side¢ two is an assortment of P/S icons.¢ Library Disk #551.¢ ALEX showed us SLCC #1303 March¢ 1995. This disk is loaded with¢ programs like Keno, J.R.'s Quest,¢ Colrtune, NucWaste, CS View and a¢ bunch of pictures. Library Disk #552.¢ We looked at the GERMAN ABBUC¢ Disk for March 1995. There is a¢ football game, Mouse Driver for the¢ XL/XE, keyboard test program, roulette¢ game, and a stereo blaster demo.¢ Library Disk #553.¢ We also saw the P.A.C.E. disk¢ which included such programs as an¢ area code finder, a crossword program,¢ and a few games like BEEHIVE and¢ CHAIN. Other program are FASTFILE,¢ INFOBITS, INVOICE, INVENTORY, and¢ SCRIPTOR. Library Disk #554.¢ The last disk we saw was¢ Datamanager XL which is joystick¢ controlled and in enhanced density.¢ Docs are on Side 2.
