  15. Command Summary:

This is MEC*DOS. It is very much like the MS-DOS for IBM. It operates much like it and allows for simular features. This is NOT COMPATIBLE with any other ATARI DOS. The program uses the 3 letter extension for filing purposes and some extensions you might use are illegal. Please see each section for comments concerning the 3 letter filename extension.

  20. SUB DIRECTORIES:

  22. MD - Make Directory (MD name)
  23. CD - Change Directory (CD name)
  24. RD - Remove Directory (RD name)
  25.  
  26. Wildcards are illegal when Sub-Directories are in use.

In order to file a program under a directory, save the file with the extension .F and the number of the directory. The 'F' stands for a file, the number represents the directory number. Directories are represented by a .D and the directory number. The MAIN directory is 1 , subs are from 2 on. There can be no directory inside directory.

  30. To move to the previous numbered directory, type CD .., CD with 2 periods. To go to the main directory, type CD \, CD backslash.

  33. FORMAT - Sets up the disk to work with your computer.

  35. COPYDOS - Creates a new DOS DISK. You must format the disk first!

  37. PRODIR - Gives a Professional directory of files on the disk. Includes disk status.

  41. LABEL - Makes a Volume Label for a disk

  43. BATCH - Creates a Batch File

  45.         Commands - CTRL Z + RETURN ends
  46.         ECHO ON/OFF - display

  48.         \ - Type to screen
  49.         / - load filename

  51. TYPE - Lists Batch or ASCII file

  57. DIR/W - Wide Directory

  59. Dn: - n=Number of Drive

  67. To execute a BASIC file, type the filename, NO Drive number! You must be in the drive that has the file.

  69. To run the program you took from COMPUSERVE, type RUN"D:SYSTEM", To run a copy created by the COPYDOS, type RUN"D:COMMAND.COM". For security, you are given 1 origional and then you can create backups - ONLY Backups!
