MAY THEY COME HOME SOON!¢¢*************************************¢¢¢Yes, this time I am writing as the¢President of the club. After a hard¢fought election campaign, I won out¢against all odds. Could it be because¢no one wanted the job? Nah, that¢can't be the reason, after all, its¢the officers of the users club who¢have all the fun of making new¢friends all over, getting info first¢hand, and knowing exactly what is¢going on in the club and ATARI world.¢Now that you have a smattering of all¢the good things, aren't you sorry you¢didn't run for the job? Kidding¢aside, being involved in club¢activities pays off in so many¢different ways, and should be part of¢the fun of being a club member.¢¢Which brings to mind the cooperation¢and involvement of OL' HACKERS and¢A.C.E. of SYRACUSE. As you know we¢have been improving every new disk¢newsletter over the last few months,¢the latest will be in this¢newsletter. Now you can print the¢entire newsletter, in various sizes¢and columns, thanks to efforts of KEN¢WICKERT who brought his club A.C.E.¢of SYRACUSE, and ours together by¢involving us with his fellow club¢member who made mods for the¢newsletter of our club. These mods¢were made by THOMAS ANDREWS of A.C.E.¢of SYRACUSE, who voluntarily upgraded¢our newsletter for us. Tom is a¢programmer whose idea of SHAREWARE is¢novel, in that, all he wants in¢return for his efforts in making new¢programs is a letter of thanks and¢suggestions on how to improve his¢programs. Tom is the programmer who¢made "PRNTSTAR.BAS", "COL40.CTB", and¢"CUSTOMER LIST MANAGER", (printed in¢ANTIC, Aug. 1989), and others.¢Wouldn't it be nice for him to¢receive a flood of letters thanking¢him for keeping the 8 BIT alive and¢kicking? Tom in his letter said "We¢ATARIANS must provide our own support¢in the years to come. The commercial¢developers aren't going to do it and¢ATARI certainly isn't. In order for¢us programmers to write programs that¢people will use, we must know what¢they want in a program. Response to¢programs like these is one way to¢find out. Please urge everyone to¢write to programmers when an address¢is given, not just to complain, but¢with comments, suggestions, and ideas¢for more programs. We sure need¢them". Regardless of your¢political feelings, I know you join¢me in wishing this war is over very¢soon and our guys and gals can come¢home safe and sound.
