  5. Safe &  Sound is a suite of utilities that will help you
  6. fix and prevent problems with your PC and  Windows.  It 
  7. is comprised of the following utilities:

  12. Safe & Sound Tools

  22. Make sure to create an Emergency Rescue disk after 
  23. installation.  Keep the rescue diskette in a safe place.  
  24. You can use this diskette to boot your PC with in case you
  25. have a problem booting with your hard drive.  This diskette
  26. contains all the tools you need to recover from disasters.

  28. KNOWN ISSUES WITH SAFE & SOUND:
  29.  
  30. 1.  Retake Protected Backup Volume Appears as a drive to some 
  31.     programs
  32.  
  33.     Retake's ability to appear as a hard drive to programs is a 
  34.     feature.  This feature allows you to access files in the 
  35.     backup using Windows Explorer or from a DOS box as if it 
  36.     is a regular drive.  You may get an error from a program 
  37.     if the program tries to access this virtual drive.  You can 
  38.     safely ignore the error.  You may be able to prevent your 
  39.     program from accessing Retake's volume drives using its 
  40.     properties or options screen.  Please refer to the program's 
  41.     documentation on how to do this.

  43. 2.  Retake Protected Backup Volumes cannot be accessed by 16-bit 
  44.     shell applications
  45.  
  46.     This version of Safe & Sound Retake does not support 16-bit 
  47.     shell applications, such as File Manager, to view files in 
  48.     the Backup Volume.
  49.  
  50. 3.  Backup sizes may be reported incorrectly.  
  51.  
  52.     This is due to a problem with Windows reporting the cluster 
  53.     size as 32k all the time.  FAT32 drives uses only 4K cluster 
  54.     size.  Therefore, the size of the backup drives in this 
  55.     instance will be over estimated.

  57. 4.  Each Protected Backup Volumes are limited to 4 Gigabytes 
  58.     in size.

  73. Undocumented Features

  75. DOSLFN.EXE - This is a TSR (Terminate and Stay Resident) program 
  76. that provides long filename API support under DOS.  This allows 
  77. programs such as DOS' COPY command to recognize long filenames 
  78. outside of Windows 95/98.  This file is copied into the Rescue 
  79. Disk.

  82. Personal Trainer for Windows 95 from CEI
  83.  
  84. Included with Safe & Sound is a product from Computer 
  85. Enlightenment Interactive called Personal Trainer for Windows 95.  
  86. Use this CD to learn and enhance your knowledge in using 
  87. Windows 95.  Use the "Install Windows 95 Trainer" entry on the 
  88. Autorun menu to install Personal Trainer.  You may also install 
  89. it by running SETUP.EXE located in the \PTRAINER directory of 
  90. the Safe & Sound CD-ROM.  The CD must remain in your CD-ROM 
  91. drive while running the program.

  100. Known Issue with Personal Trainer
  101.  
  102. Q:   When I try to install the Personal Trainer for Windows 95 
  103. I get an "Error 76 ..." message and have to quit.
  104.  
  105. A:   The "Error 76" problem you encountered is most likely due 
  106. to not having a folder called "Recycled" on the C drive.  
  107. Follow these steps:
  108.  
  109. 1) Click Start, Programs, and select Windows Explorer
  110. 2) Scroll up to the top of the left panel of the screen and 
  111. click once on the C: icon.
  112. 3) From the main menu click File, New, Folder and then type 
  113. the word "Recycled" and press ENTER.
  114. 4) Close the Windows Explorer and perform the installation 
  115. of the Personal Trainer for Windows 95 and you should be up 
  116. and running.
