  1. Installation Instructions

  4. Windows 95:
  5. The setup program should run automatically.  If it doesn't, then explore the CD and
  6. run setup95.exe.
  7.  
  8. Two shortcuts will be created on the Start Menu under Programs=>Crayola Magic 3D
  9. Coloring Book.  One will run the program if you already have the CD in the
  10. drive (the CD should automatically play when you insert it).  The other will remove
  11. the coloring book from your hard drive.

  13. Windows 3.x:
  14. You need to run the setup program "setup31.exe".  After the main setup is done, the
  15. setup programs for win32s and Video for Windows will be run.  YOU MUST NOT RESTART
  16. YOUR MACHINE UNTIL BOTH SETUPS ARE COMPLETE.  If you do accidentally answer yes to
  17. the question "Do you want to restart now?", you can run the installers yourself.
  18. They are located under the folders "win32s" and "vfw1.1e".  Run the "setup.exe"
  19. program found in each folder.

  21. A program group will be made called "Crayola Magic 3D Coloring Book" with two icons
  22. in it.  One will run the coloring book, the other will remove the program from your
  23. hard drive.

  26. Installation Issues
  27. -------------------

  29. Both Windows 95 and Windows 3.1:
  30. The uninstaller has a minor flaw.  The folders where the program is installed will
  31. not be deleted properly.

  33. If you have created scrapbook images, then these will not be deleted by the
  34. uninstaller.  This is not a bug.  If you want to get rid of these images, then you
  35. will have to delete the folder.

  38. Running the Program

  41. Windows 95:
  42. Once the setup is complete, it will run the program automatically.  After the
  43. program is installed, if you insert the CD, it will run the program automatically.
  44. If you have the CD in but you are not running the program, then you can run the
  45. shortcut located on the Start Menu.

  47. Windows 3.1:
  48. Once the setup is complete, you can run the program by double-clicking the icon
  49. in the program group that is created by the installer.

  52. Program Issues
  53. --------------

  55. Windows 95:
  56. With some audio cards, if you have the CD in at the start of Windows 95, then it will
  57. autoplay before the audio card is fully initialized.  The setup should run fine, but
  58. when the program runs, it will crash when it tries to play a sound.  Subsequent execution
  59. of the program should be stable; however, you may need to reboot the machine after this
  60. crash.

  63. Scrapbook Issues
  64. ----------------
  65. If you have saved images to your scrapbook using the sampler and would like to keep
  66. these images when you purchase the full version of the Crayola Magic 3D Coloring Book,
  67. then you must perform the following steps before saving any images to the scrapbook in
  68. the full version:

  70. 1. First of all, you must not remove the sampler before installing the full version.
  71. 2. Next, you must install the full version to a different folder than the sampler
  72.     (the default install folders are different, so if you used the default
  73.     for the sampler, you can use the default install folder for the full version).

  75. CAUTION: You must not be running either version of the program to do the following.
  76. CAUTION: If you have saved any images to the scrapbook in the full version, the following
  77.     step will delete them.

  79. 3. Once you have installed the full version, you must locate the folders where the sampler
  80.     and the full versions are installed.  Under both folders, you will find a folder
  81.     called "books".  Under the "books" folders, you will find a folder called
  82.     "scrap000".  You must copy the "scrap000" folder from your sampler "books"
  83.     folder to your full version "books" folder.

  85. Now, the next time you run the full version of the Crayola Magic 3D Coloring Book, you
  86. will find the images from your sampler scrapbook in your full version scrapbook.  Once
  87. you have verified that the images are there, you can safely remove the sampler from
  88. your computer (the full version contains all of the images from the sampler plus a lot
  89. more!).
