SOFTWARE OVERVIEW
Welcome to Kurzweil VoicePad for Windows 95 Release 1.0. The following
provides an overview of the product, a demonstration of its discrete
dictation capabilities, and an opportunity to learn and practice Kurzweil
VoicePad's basic editing commands.
Kurzweil VoicePad is the world's first voice-enabled word processing
application to be distributed as shareware. It allows you to seamlessly
integrate voice input with the keyboard and mouse to provide a natural and
intuitive approach to document creation.
Kurzweil VoicePad allows you to create memos, letters, reports and other
documents simply by speaking to your PC. You can also format text, navigate
through the application's menus and dialogs, change the application's
settings, and preview and print documents using intuitive voice commands.
In addition, Kurzweil VoicePad integrates continuous digit recognition with
its discrete speech recognition technology so users can quickly enter
telephone numbers, street addresses, dollar amounts, social security numbers
and other numeric data.
You can try using Kurzweil VoicePad with the microphone that came with your
sound board or PC. However, the product will work best with the
industry-standard Nomad microphone from Telex Communications Inc. You can
order the Nomad microphone directly from Telex for $19.95 by calling
1-800-328-3771 or by visiting their web site at http://www.telex.com/mac/computeraudio/nomad.html
Before you begin using Kurzweil VoicePad, you should check to make sure
that the microphone is properly installed. To turn the microphone on
and off, press CTRL and ALT at the same time. You can also check online
Help to learn about other ways to control the microphone. A green indicator
light in the Kurzweil VoicePad main window means the microphone is on, and
Kurzweil VoicePad is listening. A gray indicator means that the microphone
is off, and that Kurzweil VoicePad is not listening. You should keep the microphone off unless you are speaking to Kurzweil VoicePad.
You can familiarize yourself with the full range of Kurzweil VoicePad features by carefully reviewing the online Help and reading the readme.txt for the latest information about the product.
We hope your Kurzweil VoicePad experience is an enjoyable one, and we look
forward to your feedback about the product. The Company's response to this
