~ELDAR
Long before humans ever dreamed of the stars, the Eldar had already formed an
empire that stretched across the cosmos. An ancient and sophisticated race, the
Eldar in the end were responsible for their own downfall. As their galaxy-wide
success made them the supreme rulers of all they could survey, many of the Eldar
became self-serving and decadent.
As Eldar society became more and more divided, the psychic energy of their
corruption coalesced in the swirling maelstrom of the Warp and thus the Chaos
entity Slaanesh was born. In the end, all the Eldar planets were destroyed by the
final cataclysm, the only survivors were those far-sighted individuals who had built
Craftworlds - great space-faring starships that floated like jewels to the farthest
reaches of space. In these vast cities the remaining Eldar survive to this day,
embroiled in a continuous battle for survival in a galaxy now hopelessly overrun by
usurpers.
~A ~RACE ~OF ~WARRIORS
The Eldar are not a prolific race, and so every Craftworld dweller receives
extensive battle-training. These troopers are known as Guardians, and they not only
add substantial numbers to the notoriously small Eldar armies, but they perform
valuable battlefield tasks as well. Whether armed for close combat, or equipped with
the more standard lasgun or the deadlier shuriken catapult, Guardian Squads are ideal
at holding up a foe, while the more specialized warriors get into position.
