1.) How to Use this ReadMe
This ReadMe provides up-to-date information about your Spin software and
is located in the Spin directory on your hard drive. To access the
ReadMe subsequent to the initial install, navigate to the Spin directory
and double-click the "readme.wri" file.

2.) Recommendations
===Performance Tip===
If you have more than 16 Mb of ram on your Macintosh, it is strongly suggested
you increase the application's memory allocation to 12 megabytes. This will
dramatically improve the speed at which super-wide still images or QuickTime
movies are created for panoramas with large and/or many images. This is
accomplished by closing the Spin application if it is open and selecting the Spin
application icon and selecting 'Get Info' from the file menu. When the 'Spin Info'
dialog appears, enter 12000 in the preferred size setting and close the dialog box.
===Sample Images===
Sample images and movies can be found in the "Sample Panorama" folder on
your Spin CD. Simply copy the images to your hard drive or import them
into Spin from the CD. Use these sample images to practice stitching and
viewing wide angle pictures and 360 degree panoramas.
===Blending===
If there is a substantial difference in lighting between two overlapping
images, set the preferences option to 100%. Less blending is needed for
images that have minimal lighting differences.
===Image Sizing===
For best performance and to keep the size of VR movies small, we
recommend using images 640 X 480 or smaller. For super-wide still images
created by stitching a few images together, the individual images can be
larger.
===Consistent Lighting===
When taking pictures, consistent lighting conditions will improve the
results of your Spin projects. For outdoor panoramas, avoid shots that
result in the sun or other bright lights or reflections shining directly
at the camera. In general, panoramas shot during mid-day will improve
lighting. If you desire the long shadows and intense colors of early or
late daylight, try to position the shot so direct sunlight on the camera
is blocked. When shooting indoor panoramas, look for vantages with even
lighting throughout the scene and avoid shots of windows with direct sun
shining through. Beyond that, Spin's blending algorithms do much to
resolve minor variances in lighting.
===Sharing .MOV files===
If you wish to share your QuickTime VR .MOV files with others, the
recipients must have the QuickTime VR components installed on their
systems. Please advise them they can visit the Apple QuickTime site for
free software at http://www.quickTime.apple.com./sw/
===Selecting and Setting Stitch Points===
a.) In general, when selecting your stitch points in the stitch mode, it
is best to concentrate on elements of significant detail to be sure they
match. Areas with little detail such as skies, large areas of water,
sand or grass, generally blend well without extreme accuracy, while
aligning the detail in a house will require more accuracy. In essence,
the locations chosen for the control points will provide the best stitch
at those locations.
b.) If you are not pleased with results of stitch, experiment by placing
the stitch control points in different locations. It is recommended that
you start with your stitch control points approximately equal distance
into each overlapping image.
c.) If possible, try to place the upper and lower stitch control points
roughly aligned. That is, the upper left control point is roughly
aligned with the lower left control point. For best results, the upper
and lower control points should not be placed too close to each other.
d.) When selecting your stitch points in the stitch mode, look for high
contrast horizontal attributes such as where the sky meets buildings or
the ground. If you have dominant vertical elements in an overlap of images
such as a large pole, tree trunk, edge of a house, or corner of a
room, set your stitch points near the base and top of those elements to
improve the quality of the stitch.
e.) Spin does not prevent you from intentionally criss-crossing control
points. However, if you do this, you may lose cropping functionality
and/or images in the finished panorama.

3.) Notes
===Mapping to Network Drives===
When saving to a network drive, the drive must be mapped. Otherwise,
Spin will not be able to determine the disk space requirements for the
drive.
===Viewing JPEG Files===
JPEG files generatedby Spin can be viewed with any JPEG compatible
application.
