  18. 1. What is DeskWipe
  19. -------------------

  21. One nice feature in the Windows 95/NT 4.0 environment
  22. is the ability to place icons at the desktop to make
  23. it quick and easy to start your favorite applications.
  24.  
  25. There is a big drawback with this approach: The icons
  26. on the desktop are "always" covered by some running
  27. application, and you have to minimize most of these
  28. windows before you can find the icon of your favorite
  29. application.
  30.  
  31. DeskWipe puts an end to the minimizing job by doing
  32. it for you, at your request. Just place the mouse cursor
  33. at the left edge (or any of the other edgeds by your
  34. choice) of the desktop, and DeskWipe will minimize
  35. all the current windows. If you do this by mistake,
  36. just move the mouse to the same edge and all the
  37. minimized windows are restored.

  39. If you manually restore one of the minimized windows,
  40. or if you start any application DeskWipe will be ready
  41. to wipe the desktop for you again.

  43. DeskWipe run as an TrayIcon application, meaning that
  44. when you run it, it will indicate this by placing an
  45. icon at the rightmost end of the taskbar (the one with
  46. the Start button). If you double-clik on this icon,
  47. the options dialog will appear. In this dialog you
  48. can choose which edge you want DeskWipe to trigger
  49. on. Click on the Hide button to hide the options, or
  50. click on the Close button to close the DeskWipe.

  62. To keep this utility as small and simple as possible,
  63. DeskWipe does not come with an installation program.
  64. To run it, unzip the DeskWipe.zip into any directory
  65. of your choice, and double-click on the DeskWipe.exe.

  72. * DeskWipe will not be able minimize some types of
  73.   dialogs and special windows.

  80. To uninstall DeskWipe, remove the files listed above
  81. from your system:
  82. DeskWipe.exe
  83. DeskWipe.ini
  84. DeskWipe.lic (only for registered copies)

  90. DeskWipe is distributed as ShareWare.
  91. If you run DeskWipe UNREGISTERED, you will have a
  92. fully functional version with the exception that
  93. a message dialog will pop up every now and then
  94. to tell you this fact, and to try to convince
  95. you that registering is the only right thing to do.
