  4. VCKiller is a very safe and effective viruskiller for the COMMANDER virus.
  5. Some  other  COMMANDER  viruskiller,  that we have tested, didn't work (no
  6. name mentioned). So we wrote one that works!
  7.  
  8. The full archive contains the following files:

  10. VCKiller                 2364 bytes - The Viruskiller
  11. VCKiller.bak             2364 bytes - a backup of the viruskiller
  12. VCKiller.docs            2339 bytes - The docs you are reading now

  14. Operation:
  15. ----------

  17. Just write VCKiller <path>
  18.  
  19. It will then recursively test the <path>. For example if you want to check
  20. your entire harddisk for virus, just write 'VCKiller dh0:'. Or if you only
  21. want to check your c: dir, write 'VCKiller c:'.

  23. MAKE SURE THE VIRUS IS NOT IN MEMORY, WHEN YOU DO THIS!
  24.  
  25. We  don't  check  if  the  virus  is  in  memory, you will have to do this
  26. yourself.  You can for example use Virus Z to check if there's any patches
  27. made  to  dos.library (it will make 5-6). Or you can check if you have any
  28. of the symptoms of the virus (very slow computer, low memory).

  30. ONLY  WHEN  YOU'RE  100%  SURE THAT YOU DON'T HAVE IT RUNNING, YOU WILL BE
  31. GUARANTEED THAT THE VIRUSKILLER WILL WORK!

  33. The  virus  doesn't survive reboots, so just reset your computer, and boot
  34. with  no  startup-sequence.  The  virus will be activated if you start any
  35. file  that  contains the virus. Any files that have the virus will take up
  36. 1664  more  bytes, and have the comment SHIFT SPACE (meaning you can't see
  37. it).

  39. For  some  reason  the  virus  doesn't  attack programs starting with 'V',
  40. that's why we decided to call this viruskiller VCKiller.
  41.  
  42. When  the virus checker is running, it will tell you the current file it's
  43. processing.  If  the  file's  name  (afterwards  the virus check, that is)
  44. appears in WHITE a virus was found (and killed) in the file. If is appears
  45. in  BLACK,  the  CLI  window was too small to show the entire filename (in
  46. other words, don't worry).

  48. If you run out of memory when the viruskiller is working it can be because
  49. the  killer  creates  some kind of filelist containing all the files to be
  50. checked. And the more files the more memory usage. So the solution to this
  51. problem would be only to check some directories at a time.
