  1. Does upgrading to V12 overwrite my list boxes or function keys?  
  2. I can't find them anymore, they've disappeared!

  5. "Have you done a Rebuild of All Files since the upgrade was done?

  9. "After you do an upgrade the first thing that needs to be done is a
  10. Rebuild of all your files.  This will update TeleMagic where all your
  11. files are.  Once you Rebuild you will be able to see your function keys.

  16. "Let's check your Master controls, User Directories.  I want to make sure
  17. TeleMagic is looking at the right directory so it can find your files.
  18. I'll bet  we're just not looking in the right place for them.

  20. From the Main Menu, touch:

  22.                                `M' Master Controls 
  23.                                `U' User Directories

  25. "Now tell me what is the path listed for the "List Boxes Directory".

  29. "Let's look and see if the files containing the function keys are in the
  30. correct place.  Touch F3 to bring up the DOS Window and type in:

  32.           `Dir [LIST BOXES DIRECTORY path]\tmlstbox.*'.

  38.          That is what the problem is, the files are not where TeleMagic 
  39.          thinks they are.  Now all we have to do is find out where the  
  40.          actually are.

  42.           [Walk through the following steps with the customer:]

  44.                1. Do a directory listing on ALL of their TeleMagic
  45.                directories. Look for ALL occurrences of the TmLSTBOX.*
  46.                files.  When the files are found write down the path and
  47.                the size of the files.

  49.                2. The largest files are most likely the correct ones for
  50.                them.  Have them update their Master Controls\User
  51.                Directories\List Box entry with the correct paths.  (In
  52.                V12, the Function Keys and List Boxes are in the
  53.                TmLSTBOX.* files.  TmHELP.* is just for the help files)
  54.  
  55.                3. After the User Directories screen is updated, verify
  56.                that their function keys are back.  If not continue with
  57.                `YES' below.
  58.  
  59.                4. Have them run the install program again and do a
  60.                rebuild after it is completed.

  90.                     User ID you are logged in as.  To recover your
  91.                     function keys:

  93.                          1. From the Main Menu, Touch `O', `F'
  94.  
  95.                          2. When you are asked for a User ID, use the   
  96.                             spacebar to blank out the field and touch   
  97.                             <ENTER>.
  98.  
  99.                          3. Now, for each key you want to save:
  100.                               a. Highlight and touch <ENTER> 
  101.                               b. At the beginning of the line touch ALT-
  102.                               B
  103.                               c. Go to the end of the line and touch    
  104.                                  ALT-B again.
  105.                               d.Touch ALT-B a third time and select `E' 
  106.                                 for Export and touch <ENTER>.
  107.                               e. When asked for a file name give it a   
  108.                                  descriptive name.  For example, call   
  109.                                  the SHIFT-F1 key SHIFTF1.
  110.                          4. After you have exported all the function    
  111.                             keys that you want to keep, escape out of   
  112.                             the function key screen for this user.  Log 
  113.                             back in with the User ID that you want to   
  114.                             have the function keys.
  115.  
  116.                          5. Highlight each function key and touch
  117.                             <ENTER> to go into the edit mode.  While in
  118.                             edit mode:
  119.                               a. Touch ALT-I to import
  120.                               b. Enter the name of the function key you 
  121.                                  want to import and touch <ENTER>. 
  122.                               c. Touch F10 to save.
  123.  
  124.                          6. Do this for each Function Key.
  125.  
  126.                Note:  After updating one user, you can use the Install
  127.                     program to add other users using the updated users
  128.                     as the source.  This will bring all of the Master
  129.                     Control settings and function keys over.
