  1. How to make 8 lines per inch, 3 across labels on HP Laserjet:
  2. (Avery Laser Labels # 5160)
  3.  
  4. 1.    From the TeleMagic Main Menu, select the appropriate 
  5.     filter for printing these labels, if any.
  6.  
  7. 2.    Touch R for Reports, G for Generator.  Select Label,
  8.     Create or Modify.  Enter the name of your label, up to
  9.     8 characters, no extension.
  10.  
  11. 3.    Make the label screen with the following settings:
  12.  
  13.     Dimensions:        Formatting:
  14.     -----------------------------------------------
  15.     Width of label:  35    Left Margin:      5
  16.     Height of label:  8    Lines Between:    0
  17.     Number l. across: 3    Spaces Between:  11
  18.  
  19.     Remarks:  8 lines/inch labels: precondition laser req'd
  20.  
  21.         Field Definitions:

  24.     2   CON
  25.     3   COM
  26.     4   AD1
  27.     5   AD2
  28.     6   TRIM(CIT)+', '+STA+'  '+ZIP

  32.     Touch F10 to save the screen.  
  33.  
  34.     NOTE:  Be sure to use single quotes (') instead of 
  35.            double quotes (") in line 6.  Otherwise, there
  36.            will be an invalid expression error when you try
  37.            to print the label.

  39. 4.    Precondition the laser printer with the 6 setup codes.
  40.     We highly recommend entering these codes in a function
  41.     key if you will be printing this label with any regularity.
  42.  
  43.     From the Report Generator menu, touch:
  44.  
  45.     C to send Control Codes to the printer.  Enter the following
  46.     command:
  47.  
  48.     chr(27)+'(s16.66H'+chr(27)+'&a132M'   (enter)
  49.  
  50.          (condensed print plus right margin of 132 columns)
  51.  
  52.     Touch C again to send more control codes, and enter:
  53.  
  54.     chr(27)+'&l8D'+chr(27)+'&l5E'  (enter)
  55.  
  56.          (print 8 lines/inch with a top margin of 5 lines)
  57.  
  58.     Touch C a third time to send more control codes, and enter:
  59.  
  60.     chr(27)+'&l88P'+chr(27)+'&l80F'  (enter)
  61.  
  62.          (set page length to 88 lines, text length to 80 lines)
  63.  
  64.     Touch J for Eject to clear the printer buffer and send the
  65.     new codes to your printer.
  66.  
  67.     NOW YOU'RE READY TO PRINT!

  69. 5.    Select Labels, Run.
  70.  
  71. 6.    Enter TMCUMAST as the database name, and the name of the
  72.     label file you created.
  73.  
  74. 7.    Enter the name of the index to use.  If you would like to
  75.     make up a new index for this mailing, enter the new index
  76.     name, up to 8 characters, no extension.
  77.  
  78. 8.    If you are using an existing TeleMagic index, it is best
  79.     to say "N" for No on reindexing the file.  Then skip to 
  80.     step 10.

  82. 9.    If you are using a new index, answer "Y" for Yes to create 
  83.     the index.  Enter the fields to index on in the space
  84.     provided.  For example, to index on the Zip Code for labels
  85.     in Zip Code order, enter:

  87.     ZIP (enter)
  88.  
  89.     Build the index.  If you are in a network, you will need
  90.     exclusive use of the database to build an index.
  91.  
  92. 10.    When you are ready to begin printing, answer Y for Yes to
  93.     the ready question.
  94.  
  95. 11.    Print samples if you have a large database.  Otherwise,
  96.     answer N for No samples.
  97.  
  98. 12.    When your labels are finished and you return to the 
  99.     Generator menu, touch J for Eject to print out any 
  100.     partially filled pages of labels.
