  1. Who should file?
  2.  
  3.   a) Anyone who is an operator of an on-line service that is in active
  4.      operation on September 1, 1992.
  5.  
  6.   b) If you are running a system that is schedule to begin operation
  7.      after this date please do not file. If your system has ceased
  8.      operations for any reason but will return to operation before
  9.      September 15, you may file.
  10.  
  11.   c) BBS Census '92 is only open to on-line systems in the United
  12.      States and Canada.

  14. Why should I file?
  15.  
  16.      The use of electronic communications is growing at an outstanding
  17. rate, and it is important that we know just how widespread it has
  18. become. You can become one of the counted by filing, and in this way
  19. add your voice (and numbers) to the statistical data that will be
  20. generated by this Census.
  21.  
  22.      Do hobby boards constitute the majority of On-Line services? Are 
  23. they dependable? What is their lifespan? How many product support BBS's
  24. are there? How many people use Compuserve on a daily or yearly basis.
  25. These, and other questions will determine the tenor of BBS Census '92.
  26.  
  27.         * The personal information gathered from this form will not be
  28.         * distributed to anyone, in any way, shape or form. It is being
  29.         * used soley to identify you in case we need to contact you to
  30.         * review an answer or answers to questions.

  32.      ModemNews Magazine (the sponsor) also has no plans to produce a
  33. BBS list from the results. BBS lists are currently being produced by
  34. many other entities. Our prime goal is information on background.
