  18.   There are a multitude of laser printers and "laser-printer ready"
  19.   mailing labels currently available.  This document only addresses
  20.   the Hewlett-Packard line of laser printers and the Avery brand of
  21.   laser printer labels, since each of these is emerging as a
  22.   standard in their respective industries.  Avery also offers in-
  23.   depth Technical Support for their product.
  24.  
  25.   It is highly recommended that the user call the Avery "Fax Facts"
  26.   service from a telephone handset attached to a facsimile machine;
  27.   follow the automated instructions to request the Technical
  28.   Bulletin Subject Index and instructions (bulletin number AV100).

  32.   The following examples illustrate the format and appearance of
  33.   the report specification for producing mailing labels with 5
  34.   different types of Avery laser printer labels, each identified by
  35.   stock number.  The detailed dimensions of the label stock are
  36.   available from Avery's "Fax Facts" system on Technical Bulletin
  37.   number AV1016, which shows size in inches as well as in character
  38.   width and height.  Briefly, however, the label dimensions are:

  84.   Margin size for these examples was optimally set, but may be
  85.   adjusted to suit the individual application.  Pay close attention
  86.   to the characters used in the custom setup strings: the lower
  87.   case letter "l" appears very similar the numeral "1".  It is very
  88.   important to distinguish between the two.  Also, be careful to
  89.   distinguish between the upper case letter "O" and the numeral
  90.   "0".

  92.   Upper and lower case is very important in the construction of
  93.   setup strings and should be identical to that in the examples.
  94.   Other setup strings may be substituted, of course, but the
  95.   results may vary.  For a general description of how to design

  99.   The vertical ruler that appears on the left side in each example
  100.   may be called up by  | Control | V |.

  102.   Custom printer setup strings may be entered into the report
  103.   specification by | F10 | Setting | Setup | Custom | LPT1 | (or
  104.   whichever printer port you are using) and then entering the setup
  105.   string.  Ensure that the printer default is set to use form
  106.   feeds, not line feeds.

  108.   Blank lines may be substituted where the placed fields appear,
  109.   but not vice versa.
