  21.   PART I: Preparing the server.

  23.   Create the following subdirectories on the SERVER's local drive:

  25.   C:\PDOX35............This will contain the Paradox program files.
  26.   C:\PDOXDATA..........This will contain the Paradox data files
  27.                        (including the PARADOX.NET file).

  29.   As SUPERVISOR, use the NET utility to create the following
  30.   network directories, PDOX35 and PDOXDATA.  The steps are:
  31.  
  32.       o  Type NET to start the Netware Lite NET utility.
  33.  
  34.       o  Select "Supervise the Network" from the Main Menu.
  35.  
  36.       o  Select "Network directories" from the "Supervise the
  37.          Network" menu.
  38.  
  39.       o  Press "Ins" to add a new network directory.
  40.  
  41.   Add the following directories:

  45.   Actual directory path: (Type in the path for the Paradox PROGRAM
  46.                          directory) i.e.: C:\PDOX35

  100.   Install Paradox on the server's local drive.  During the
  101.   installation, you will be asked if you will be accessing data on
  102.   a network.  Respond with a "Y".  An additional screen will
  103.   display, prompting you for the network type and location of the
  104.   Paradox network control file.

  106.      Network type: 6 (Other)
  107.      Network control file: I:\ (or whatever drive is designated for
  108.      PDOXDATA)
  109.  
  110.   Proceed with the rest of the installation.
  111.  
  112.   NOTE: If Paradox has already been installed on the server's local
  113.   drive as a non-networked version, you can change this by
  114.   running NUPDATE.EXE from the \PDOX35 directory.  This will
  115.   allow you to change the Paradox network information.
  116.  
  117.   After installation, change the read attribute for the Paradox
  118.   executable files to read only.  In the \PDOX35 directory type
  119.  
  120.      attrib +R *.EXE

  122.   PART III: Preparing the client.

  124.   Create a "home" or private directory for the user on their local

  152.   After the client software has been loaded and the client is
  153.   logged to the network, use the NET MAP command to include the
  154.   PDOX35 and PDOXDATA drive letters.

  158.      NET MAP I: PDOXDATA (or whatever drive is designated for

  161.   Add the H: drive to the client's PATH statement.  This can be
  162.   done in a batch file with the following line:

  166.   To start Paradox, change to the \PDOXPRIV directory, and type
  167.  
  168.      PARADOX -SHARE
  169.  
  170.   Run the Paradox Custom Configuration Program (see Chapter 14 of
  171.   the Paradox Users Guide if you are unsure about how to run CCP).
  172.  
  173.   In Custom, select Net | SetPrivate from the main menu.
  174.  
  175.   Change the private directory to C:\PDOXPRIV.
  176.  
  177.   Press <F2> to save the configuration.  Choose "Network" when it
  178.   prompts you where to save the PARADOX.CFG file.
  179.  
  180.   At this point, all users should be able to run Paradox when
  181.   starting from their C:\PDOXPRIV directory.  For additional

  183.   overview of how to use Paradox on a network.
