  7. Introduction
  8. -----------------
  9. The Windows 3.1 Driver Library contains device drivers for
  10. printers, displays, and audio devices. These drivers enable
  11. the devices to run with Microsoft Windows version 3.1.
  12. Also in this library are a few additional items, such as Access
  13. Pack software, and a Novell Netware upgrade.
  14.  
  15. As new and updated drivers become available, they will be added
  16. to the Windows 3.1 Driver library.
  17.  
  18. This WDL.TXT file includes a list of all devices supported by
  19. the drivers in the Windows 3.1 Driver Library, and instructions
  20. for downloading.  This file is updated on a regular basis.
  21.  
  22. NOTE:  Everything included in this library is intended for use
  23. with Microsoft Windows version 3.1.  It is NOT RECOMMENDED
  24. that these items be used with Windows 3.0.

  27. Instructions for Downloading
  28. ---------------------------------------
  29. 1  Locate your device in the listing included at the end of this
  30.    WDL.TXT file.  Note the name of the file listed next to the 
  31.    device. You need to download this file from your downloading
  32.    service.
  33.  
  34. 2  If downloading to a floppy disk, you need to have a formatted,
  35.    blank disk.  If downloading to your hard disk, create a new
  36.    subdirectory in which you will place the files.
  37.  
  38.    CAUTION: Do not download files directly into your Windows
  39.    directory. Doing so could overwrite files essential to the
  40.    proper operation of your system.
  41.  
  42. 3  Follow the downloading procedure used by your downloading
  43.    service. The file you download is the executable or program
  44.    (.EXE) file that you identified in step 1. This file contains
  45.    all the files you need to support your device.
  46.  
  47.    Download the .EXE file to your floppy disk or to the new
  48.    subdirectory you created on your hard disk.
  49.  
  50. 4  Change to the floppy disk drive (or the subdirectory on your
  51.    hard disk) that contains the .EXE file. At the MS-DOS prompt,
  52.    type the filename, and then press ENTER.
  53.  
  54.    When the .EXE file finishes running, all the files you need to
  55.    support your device, such as a .DRV file and an OEMSETUP.INF
  56.    file, are set up.  You are also provided with a .TXT file
  57.    that contains instructions for installing the device drivers
  58.    (or other software) and a licensing agreement.
