  5. There is a file being circulated on BBS's called HSLK113.ZIP or
  6. HSLK113.ARJ or similar, and that claims to RELEASE version 1.13 of the
  7. HS/Link file transfer protocol.  No such version has been (or will be)
  8. released by Samuel H. Smith.  This file is in fact an elaborate hoax,
  9. containing modified documentation, hacked and patched program files and
  10. a phoney authenticity code.  The patches may be designed to damage your
  11. system. DO NOT RUN THE PROGRAMS IN HSLK113!

  13. The ZIP file contains nine files, including the original DOC files that
  14. where shipped with HS/Link version 1.00.

  34. When you UNZIP or TEST this file, you see the following bogus AV report:

  38. The code "# LZM612" is the giveaway here- my original true AV code always
  39. reports code "# XOC363".

  41. The included FILE_ID.DIZ causes the upload description to appear like

  58. I did not attempt to run HSLK113.EXE.  It passes all virus scans
  59. available to me as of 7/20/92.

  61. If you see the files HSLK113.ZIP or HSLK113.ARJ on any BBS or on-line
  62. system, please ask the SysOp of that system to remove the files
  63. IMMEDIATELY.
