Msgedsq ReadMe File v2.1
______________________________________
The files that should be in this archive are (2.1 release):
msged(p).exe Msgedsq!
msgedsq.doc Doccumentation
hist.doc History of mods for this verison.
keycode(p).exe Gives you the keycodes for keys
msged.cfg Sample config file
areas.bbs Sample areas.bbs file
rhelp.hlp Reader Help file
ehelp.hlp Editor Help file
readme Readme file (this one)
If you didn't get all these then you should attemp a version that has all these
files (you don't know where it's been :). If you find things don't work the
way you expect, please rftm; some things have changed. You SHOULD use the
distributed cfg file - quite a few things are slighlty different.
When reporting bugs, please state the version you are using. The version is
displayed on the first screen when msgedsq is fired up. If you're using a
beta version (one with a trailing "b"), don't expect much help unless you're
on the beta team (who aren't really a team, but know who they are :-). Tho
bug reports are always "welcome" (;-), please ensure you have the latest
version. Btw. Note my new fido address.
Known Bug Alert!: Do not enter/foward/copy etc. any message in an area
where the path is incorrect - it will crash. If the
path is correct but the squish files don't exist, they
will be created. This only applies to cases where the
path is definetley out/wrong. This hasn't been fixed
because it requires quite a few fixes. Only seems to
apply to squish areas, but don't try it, just in case.
2.0.6 was never to be; I decided to go to a major release instead. The DOCs
were still a little rushed, but they're certainly more complete than the last
version. I'm finding that spare time is hard to come by at the moment, so
I released it, rather than make you guys wait another month :-)
OS/2 people: This needs the msgapi.dll that comes with the Maximums CBCS
distribution or the SquishMail distribution. It should work with both
versions of the DLL (the v2 and v2wb releases of Maximus).
Once you're finished, all you need for operation is the msged.exe and
msged.cfg -- all the rest can be chucked away. The help files will not
be used if they are not present.
The files are available from:
Colin Wheat 3:690/613 (Oz)
Alex Wyss 2:302/801 (Europe)
Edward Branley 1:396/10 (US)
Clay Tinsley 1:124/5125 (US)
Dallas Hinton 1:153/715 (Canada)
The filenames are usually:
Msq2_1.lzh dos
Msq2_1p.lzh OS/2
The above nodes will announce what to call for.
